Ah well, to keep the discussion going - Andre can have some great serves, even aces (in the 2nd-3rd set vs Robredo I saw), and Marat was constantly a teeny-weeny bit late returning Horna's (who served pretty well too as I mentioned). So I'm really worried. And rallies - Marat did really well vs Horna, he had the patience (YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and Horna usually finally made the error then. But it might not be enough vs Agassi. I guess it will depend also on how Andre is feeling.

Although Horna, who had previously powered past defending champion Juan Carlos Ferrero, started strongly he was no match for a focused Safin" ;D wow!!! a focused safin. thats a first for marat. i really like to read more articles in the future about his new ability   (its a long way from being called temperamental and erratic.) i like our new marat very much. hope he can keep it together against agassi, wish him all the luck. |

Hey, guys!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to Marat for winning yesterday! I watched the match on TV but couldn't be online.......   A few thoughts abt it: First set: his serve sucked and he was making a lot of UEs for the most part of it..... and he was pissed off because of that too.... then, at 4-4, Horna serving, it was 40-0, but Marat played the rest of the game SUPERBLY and broke. His serve got better by the end of the set and so did his game. Second set: First two games were won to love, then Marat had 40-40 on Horna's serve, but Horna hit two aces and that was it. In this set, his serve was good right up till the end.........  In the last game, he was 30 -0 up, but had a few foot faults called (one of them on second serve), got pissed off, argued with the umpire, the crowd started to boo and whistle, saved some break points, argued with the lines-men and the umpire some more.......... he even argued with him right before he played the matchpoint........... ;D And then finally, he won it, while the crowd was hissing and booing, and left the court giving them SARCASTIC kisses while they were whistling and stuff............ that was PRICELESS!!!! ;D ;D ;D  I know I'm not supposed to like this, but when he was arguing with the umpire, he had this look on his face like "Excuse me, come again...?!" Very bemused and sarcastic..... I loved it! ;D It was hilarious, but at the same time I was like "Forget him and serve it out already!!!!!!!! Please, God, don't let him get REALLY upset and lose!!" Then, as he was serving and the crowd didn't stop, he gestured to them, like "Yeah, come on, give me all U've got!!!!" and put his hand to his ear, like "I can't hear U!!!!!" He's such a DRAMA QUEEN!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D Aaaaaand..................That was it!  P.S. A BIIIIIIIIG hug to everybody who was on the tagboard : Exodus, Teresa, Lau, Gemma........... and all the others!!! Sorry I couldn't be there, guys! |

Big thanks to Neo, Maria and everyone for the match reports, its so hard to know what is going on with just the score board. Now I think I know when I thought the SB had frozen it was prob Marat arguing with the umpire or lines men LOL I would love to have seen his interaction with the crowd. Thanks also for the pictures Damita I guess the crowd will be behind Andre today so hope Marat can stay focused and work off this. |

YAY YAY YAY OMG from all accounts what an awesome match Well done habibi well done To win the match with a TB.....cant ask for more than this. Awesome, just awesome, this will be great for his confidence ;D I am sooooooooooooooo happy for Marat.... ;D This is a wonderful exhibition of talent, maturity, ability focus, skill, he just out mastered Andre, has to be one of the sweetest wins for Marat, sure was for me Sweet Sweet Sweet I can't wait for tomorrow. |

well, wat 2 say, good match, first serve not all that great, but hey he won, straight sets against agassi and the crowd, hit a ballbimbo in the stomach, ouch, looked confidentish, agassi was almost walking off court in the last point, everyone in the box was happy as larry, walt grinning away n drink sumat out of a green can like always, bless pete looking chilled, dont know hu the 2 geezers behind them are but everybody in the box is gettin on well, lotsa yeaaaah, cm on man, so, yeah, roll on nalbandian dude |
