Marat should make it to Houston, as he keeps his 7th place, with the win against Agassi. But I'm not sure with all the math in the final.

I don't think it is that funny the ballgirl got hit with the ball. I guess, this is because I was once hit by Marat accidently (I hope) during one of his matches in 2003. It hurt quite a bit and I had a bruise on my stomach forever. He is quite cute when he says "sorry" though. I wonder how many people Marat has ever hit playing tennis? I was just kidding about it being funny the girl got hit. You were quite unlucky, of all the people watching he hit you! Welcome to this forum by the way!

Elisabeth>>de rien. dommage pour la finale (enregistrement peut-être, non? Guys there's an article on the french eurosport site, and as it speaks very highly of Marat ;D, i've translated it. [glow=red,2,300]SAFIN RAISE’S HIS VOICE [/glow] Marat Safin, consciencious and brilliant, dominated Andre Agassi for the second time this year, in two sets, in the semi-finals of the Masters Series in Madrid. On Sunday the Russian will play his fourth final of the season against Argentinian David Nalbandian, who defeated Croatian Ljubicic. Safin (Rus, 3) beat Agassi (Usa, 2) 6-3, 7-6 (7/4) Marat Safin can also be irresistible, like only Roger Federer can be those days. The sole problem before a match of the Russian is always to answer this question: does he want to give his all to win? This Saturday, against an illustrious opponent, Marat played at a very high level and with a great ease that gave both envy and regrets to anyone. On Saturday, Safin lost concentration only once, when one of his violent first serves made the ball hit a young lady who was obviously out of place on court (see the controversy about the recogepelotas). An apology and a double fault later the Muscovite was back into the match. This minor incident wasn’t a big occasion enough for Andre, waiting for any weakness in Marat’s game. Less powerful than the Russian, the American has been able to stay in the match thanks to his eternal intelligence in the game, but couldn’t make the difference. Simplicity and motivationAt the beginning of the match, servers are tested. Agassi lost his serve at 3-2, a break that Marat kept during the whole set. Safin was playing simply and, more surprisingly, Agassi was unable to cope, especially with Marat’s backhand along the line. In the second set, the American served first. Pressure was on the Russian, who had to confirm the good statistics of the first set (20 winners against 7). At 2-2 15/40, Safin saved two break points. Rallies were intense, but none of them really collapsed. It’s finally in the tie break, very well-balanced, that we saw Safin win and show relief. Quick on his feet, swift, he “broke” back twice and then finished the match on his own serve. Far from the historical match between them in the Australian open semi-finals in January, this match certainly gave Marat good reasons to continue his in-depth work on his career and the way he analyses the game. He now keeps Agassi at a distance in the Indesit ATP Race, and can dream of a Masters Cup which would crown his great return….

More great articles to come! I hope I'm gonna have a new avvy with a new trophy after tomorrow night! and !!!! ________________ UPDATE 2-Safin overpowers Agassi to reach Madrid final Sat 23 October, 2004 18:42 (Adds Agassi, Safin quotes, details) By Emma Graham-Harrison MADRID, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Marat Safin defeated Andre Agassi 6-3 7-6 in the Madrid Masters on Saturday with a powerful performance that underlined his recent return to top form and secured him a place in the final against David Nalbandian. Safin dominated the game from the start, using his strong service and some daring baseline shots to peg back Agassi, who looked tense and tired after a three-set quarter-final battle with Spain's Tommy Robredo. "Its a long time since I've played as well as that -- a really long time," Safin said. "I knew Agassi would be a little tired after a long match yesterday, so I just concentrated on my serve. I'm really surprised I played so well from the baseline." The number three seed broke the American six games in and easily held on to his lead to close out the set. Agassi, Madrid champion in 2002, rarely threatened during the second set, despite the support of a packed crowd. He set up three break points but was unable to convert any of them and struggled to hold on to most of his service games. He managed to shake off his opponent to claim an early lead in the tie-break but Safin came back to take it 7-4 and complete victory in 94 minutes. "Safin has a really big game," Agassi said. "When it's firing on all cylinders its as good as anyone's. He can make it look very easy." In the earlier semi-final fourth seeded Nalbandian beat Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic 6-4 6-4. Unseeded Ljubicic, whose quarter-final match on Friday lasted almost three hours, looked sluggish and over-reliant on a serve that was not enough to hold off Nalbandian. The Argentine broke in the third game and outclassed Ljubicic in a series of rallies to claim the set. Ljubicic, who knocked out top seed Tim Henman, was more focused at the start of the second set but was broken in the ninth game to go 5-4 down. He set up three break points but was unable to convert them and Nalbandian -- who has yet to lose a set in this year's tournament -- served out in under an hour and a half. "It wasn't easy at all, he won serve easily," said the Argentine. "Luckily I found his rhythm and could take advantage of it."

The ATP Site today:
This is also from the ATP Site
I don't think the 'today' is 23rd Oct, but the paragraph is confirming that Gaudio is going to Houston, regardless of whether he played Madrid or not.
Or at least..... thats how I am reading it, could be wrong.

The site says Match is at 3pm local time and is the best of 5 sets, I had not realised that, though it was 3 sets.

Summer>>OMG, poor you! it must be painful. I guess he made several "victims" around the world yeah but he's not the only one, and of course it's not on purpose. On purpose? A professional tennis player who tries to serve out his way to the Houston Masters, would suddenly decide to cruelly hunt some chicks with 200 kph cannon-balls.... He didn't miss, but double foulted as a result.
