Safin grinds out nervy Bercy winHaving being warned for cursing aloud in his native tongue Safin approached the chair, before uttering a classy tirade boasting such gems as "I am starting to lose respect for you" and "What's the problem? Nobody can understand Russian here!" You just gotta love him LOL, poor ball boy!! I have not seen the match and unfortunately prob never will, but by all accounts, Marat showed that he can very emotional, regain his composure and was able to change up his game effectively enough to ratttle his opponent and win this match. LOL Sooooooooo true

Safin will play less tournaments in 2005 In order to privilege quality to quantity, Marat Safin is planning to play less tournaments in 2005. The Russian who will have competed in 27 events this year, including two Davis Cup ties, the Olympics and the ATP Masters Cup in Houston has agreed so with his coach Peter Lundgren. "Playing too much can affect his results in the major events" said Lundgren who will pursue his collaboration with the Russian champion. Safin will start the year in Perth for the Hopman Cup, as he did this year. After a week off, he will play the Australian Open. Then, the only event he plans on competing in, before the Masters series of Indian Wells and Miami, is Dubaï. nice to know that he will listen to Peter when he suggests new ideas. Play smarter, not harder! lol, now if only we could get rid of all those tiebreaks he is playing lately

Because if he doesn't.... Seing only 15 first/second round loses a year is something we can hardly endure. Hope that Lungern is right. Schedule might have affected Marat, but who nows how much effect it has on his mental lapses in matches.... Anyway, everyone except for Marat's oppoenents are interested to see the schedule affecting all the 100% of Marat's flakiness.

question of te day: to crawl up at 3.30am or not to? sigh..... (i'm not sure whether he shook hands with the ump at the end. maria. did u notice?) LOL Jiat, definitely worth crawling up!!!! Melzer must be revenged!! And I hope he will! OK, if you need your beauty sleep don't worry, he'll do it without you. And I'll be watching! And yes he shook hands with Grillotti, he was pretty composed at the end of the match. I so like Grillotti and he must like Marat as he is pretty patient with him. I got the cursing part but I still don't get what M's problem with the line judge was, why he was shouting at him, and it was so funny how Grillotti just shook his shoulders to that and gave no warning! (No obscene words this time though, just shouting something in English. ) The line judges were pretty good to my mind. Marat even got one free point as Ivan was denied a clear ace, lol! The French line judges also looove you baby! ) No need to argue all the time! Poor umps and judges really! I understand he might be p*** off at Bernardes for Paris but it was all by the book then and he can't argue with every ump now can he? Grillotti is very fair to my mind, nothing like Chryst. I remember Marat was arguing with him in Estoril about bad court, balls, everything and Grillotti tried to calm him down. It was kinda sweet!

And one more thought - they'll run out of umps for M's matches if he keeps acting like this and p*** them off! Seriously - it's good that they never put Chryst to ump him any more!

Nobody can understand Russian, hahaha Marat! if you didn't exist, we would have to invent you! muahahaha The hot-headed talent quickly regained his composure, though, winning the set 6-3 with out much further ado, (apart from a racket thrown into the net at top-speed, somewhat scaring the nearby ball-boy). OMG! and i was having fun reporting the number of times the ball got netted (steph was amused) Yes i was ;D oh. i forgot to say. my new idol is peter lundgren! haha, mine too! Vass>>good for you about Dubai!

Makes sense, hopefully he will do well in AO and will be able to stick to his planned schedule. Have time off for rest and friends will help him mentally and otherwise Vass I know, am so happy for you that he will play Dubai, when I was reading the interviews I wondered if he would play Dubai, but I think he really likes going there, and enjoys playing there, so this is great and we can look forward to your very informative reports ;D And Vass thanks for posting the match report.
