So, well.. oke.. i can live with it.. Rogier Wassen.. the dutchie who beated Igor.. honestly I didnt know what the guy would look like he plays challengers (not too bad last year) and he lives about 12 km from here... (still i dont think i would recognize him if I'd see him on the streets... ;D) Anyway.. this guy beated Igor by 61 62... I dunnow how bad Igor's day must have been... but I dont think this is a normal score... Nice for the dutchie though! ;D

So, well.. oke.. i can live with it.. Fnocky, the SB didn't work but MensTennisForums.com still got point-by-point scores somehow. By the way, from those point-by-point reviews it's not visible that Marat's playing too well. Got many 40-0 scores or even 0-40, but just had to lose atleast two points before taking the game.

Well done Marat! A win is still a win, and it can surely only improve his confidence? Could we see another run like we did in China? How cool would that be! two tournaments almost back to back! (OK, I'll try not to jinx him ;D)

I'm not supersticious at all.

New article from Thai newspaper, The Nation:
Russia's Safin is back in business
Published on Sep 30, 2004
Four years after being the world’s No 1 player then slumping to the bottom of the top 100, Russian star Marat Safin is sending signals that he is back in business.
He beat Israel’s Noam Okun in his first round match at the Thailand Open yesterday.
The former world No 1 and 2000 US Open champion, who also won the China Open earlier this month, has claimed seven consecutive matches in straight sets, improving his record to
3-0 against Israeli Okun, ranked 148.
The temperamental Russian, who had an injury-plagued year last year, dropped out of top 50 for first time since 1997. His form slumped and he fell to No 89 in the world at the start of the season.
Being overshadowed by his successors including Andy Roddick and Roger Federer, the 24-year-old Safin fought hard and clawed his way back into
the top 10 two weeks ago at
No 9.
He has appeared in three finals in 18 tournaments this year. Among those finals he won the Beijing Open nearly two weeks ago, his first trophy in two years.
“What I did is fight. I just fight and put a lot of effort in every match I play,” Safin told reporters after his match at the Impact Arena last night.
Safin, who has vowed never to play on the grass courts at Wimbledon, again, is determined to finish the year within the top five.
“It was four years ago and I couldn’t remember what I played to make me the world’s No 1.
“You have to be confident to win a game. You can’t win if you are not confident,” added Safin, who would like to make sure that world No 1 Roger Federer won’t have an easy task winning this tournament.
“There’re many good players here in this tournament. It’s difficult to say anything as every match is important. I’ll focus and work it out match by match.
Whenever I win, I gain confidence.
It’s boosted me and I love it when I feel that way.”
In other first round matches, Swede Robin Soderling dealt Israel a second defeat at the Impact Arena as he beat Harel Levy 6-3 6-4.
Russian seventh seed Igor Andreev failed to match the tempo, taking a loss to Dutchman Rogier Wassen 6-1
6-2.

;DHi everybody, Yesterday, I've got a last minute ticket to see Marat. He played really awesome, dominated all court. Seems that his shots controlled his opponent and public. I can't remember the last time, I saw him play like this. (Maybe he did but that matches didn't broadcast.) I've seen Roger, Andy and Marat yesterday. All I can say is, if this 3 guys continue playing in this level, (Or even other guys improve but Marat still maintain his.) The Thailand Open Trophy will be in Marat's hands on Sunday. So keep your finger cross, our MAN is the best.
