What a "nice" doubles draw indeed!! Hmm, any thoughts on singles ?? ?? And - Marat is NOT going to carry the flag, I heard on Russian TV yesterday that Alexander Popov will carry the Russian flag. So calm down please, that's not why Marat lost!

POPOV will carry Russia's flag, possibly with FEOFANOVA I agree in Russia are many athletes who deserve to carry a flag much more then Marat , after Sopot especially

singles is pretty bad as well. the whole bunch of russians have a tough draw.
poor nikolay...... and igor's got it pretty bad too, unless rainer collapses. misha's still manageable...I HOPE.
as for marat......here's the head to head

Fopr those who are surprized to see Marat's draw, here's what I think: MARAT"S DRAW ISN"T HARD AND IS PRECISELY WHAT HE DESERVES. nothing more nothing less. If Marat is to win anything, he should be upto the task. Or do you expect the draw to be open for him like the sea in the Bible? That's not fair, is it? Kucera is a world no. 113 nobody. If you're afraid of him, them you'll have to agree that Marat will not win anything playing on that level. Lopez and Soldering can be handled by anyone playing the top-20 level. If Marat's not on that level, again, we can forget about any medals. Then there's Safin's b*tch, Monsier Grosjean. Give me one good reason why Olympic-winning-Marat wouldn't beat him? QF is where real trouble should start. He';s the second worst anybody can get. But Marat has to live with that. If he wants any Medal he would have had to win a top-3 player anyway. I don't think Marat can get past Roddick, but I wouldn't count it as a bad performance if he loses in QF to Roddick be it in two tight sets or in 3. Now, we can't blame the draw that Marat faces the World No2 in QF can we? No we can't because he didn't play anything like a no.9 seed prior to the Olympics anyway. All I want now is for Marat to live up to his seeding. The draw isn't a hard one for a No13 in the world ( and Marat is nothing but that. Another No13 wouldn't be angry at such a draw, that's for sure).

I'm not even interested in the head-to-head. That was 3 years ago and Kucera dropped out of the top-100 already. If Marat is anywhere near a medal living form he'll crush him.

Hmmm...pretty interesting draw Poor Davydenko and maybe poor Mayer. Well...I always have to think about his matches at the AO against Roddick and Agassi. So why not again? I believe in him.

cool it vass...woah....the head to head is just for reference sake! u should KNOW THAT!!!!!!!
and is seb really marat's B***H? i didn't know that. haha... ok then...
in case ppl start wondering what B***H is referring to,
if we say that player A is player B's B***H, it means that player A has never beaten player B in ALL THEIR ENCOUNTERS.

Actually Seb did beat Marat twice (head to head: 2-6), but it's true that it was in 1999 and 2001.... rest of the time Marat was so superior (Davis cup final isuch a good thing to remember!!! ;D) and Seb isn't playing good this year, i don't expect anything from him in the Olympics . He should not be a big threat for Marat at all....

Or if A beat B much more times than B beat A. Marat is 6-2 against Grosjean if I'm not mistaken.

Vass... you're sounding so positive all of a sudden... way to go boy... way to go!! ;D ;D Singles.. mwaaah.. not easy.. but he should be able to handle the first rounds.. but yeah, he's expected to win so much and didnt quite show it so far... I'm not blaming him.. just saying you cant say anything about it untill the matches are played..... I dont think he'll get far in doubles.... four games would be the utmost i guess... then they have a great achievement against the bryan-brohws.. ;)Caroline

Great fighting words Vass, I like it ;D I am ageeing with you here I hope he can prove otherwise, he has beaten Roddick before....in a grand slam semi...so hopefully he can do it again in Athens agreed, except I am not so sure habibi will be happy to lose to Roddick in the QF, so I am hoping that the thought of beating Roddick ( or then again the though of losing ) in the QF is the kind of motivation he needs to go out there win.
