Good God. Roger is playing in 120 degree heat against Dr Ivo! I would be dead after 2 games. How can they possibly allow them to play in heat like that? It's criminal. I'm praying that this third set ain't a tiebreak ... I can't handle watching all these aces either ...

After resting for 2 hours, well, I didn't fall sound asleep prob becuz too vexed over missing Marat's practice this morning. I should've worked on the pix and reports today instead...*sigh* then turned on TV, the 3rd set of Rogi vs Ivo......Rogi lost........Remember Marat mentioned many times that technique is not the issue, when you start to have doubts or keep losing, confidence crisis will play a big role. That's probably the scenario for Maestro after several major early defeat this year. After watching so many matches live, I really think as long as you are top 50 or even top 100, you are as good as others. It's a matter of consistency, confidence, and your form at the time. About Rogi's schedule, I think it's his preference to play later afternoon cuz usually big stars are arranged to play night matches (like Marat, Rafa, Rod) that more people will be able to go. However, I haven't seen Rogi playing any night matches in Cincy. I figure the tourney just accommodates his preference. Cincy's summer could be super hot. If you actually try to step on the court, you can feel that 30C becomes 40C or even higher. Summer HC tennis, IMO, is the ultimate physical torture to players. The first day Rogi came to Cincy, I felt he was real intense at practice, very different from last year that he only practiced with his training partner. But this time, he had two real serious practice sessions with Haas. And he turned down autograph requests when he left for the hotel. After he won Ginepri, I guess he started to feel more relaxed. Yesterday, he practiced at 5pm at court #5 with hundreds of people waiting in line as early as 4pm. After practice, he stayed to sign for fans for like 10 minutes in the court and crowd was ecstatic. I figure that Rogi sort of arranged this to make it up to disappointed fans. Ironically, Rafa was just started practicing at 6pm at the adjacent court. People were like busy taking pix of both of them. Hope Marat text messages something to Rogi now. Come on, New Balls, how I missed Rogi playing Marat in AO, Houston masters, Halle, and so on. Even Marat lost most of their encounters, I love watching them playing against each other! As for Dr. Ivo, I read a story about him somewhere that he was struggling in his early career without any sponsors and money that he had to practice in public parks by himself. I was real touched. I feel glad for him that he managed to pull thru the hardships and makes huge progress in recent years. Well, new No 1 could likely be Rafa next week as Rogi failed to defend his Cincy title. Quite heart-broken. Marat, Maestro, JC, New Balls........ ps Go check yesterday's yummy pix that I took of Marat if you are sad over the loss. That might help a bit. He's gorgeous/HOT in every pic. The smiles will make your day. ;D ;D

the change at the top is imminent -- Rafa almost has his hands on it -- it'll happen this week only if his raises the trophy ... OT: Interesting stats though on where the current Top 10 was ranked when Fed first reached Numero Uno on February 2, 2004: 1. Roger Federer……..(1st) 2. Rafael Nadal………(40th) 3. Novak Djokovic…….(676th) 4. David Ferrer………(69th) 5. Nikolay Davydenko….(52nd) 6. Andy Roddick………(3rd) 7. David Nalbandian…..(8th) 8. James Blake……….(37th) 9. Andy Murray……….(536th) 10. Stanislas Wawrinka..(162nd) oh, and Gilles Simon's fantastic HC summer has him climbing to career-high 14

Young Andy is through ... sod's law he meets Dr Ivo. 32 aces are on their way ... why do I always think of Sampras when Dr Ivo is playing ... Still can't believe that Maestro is unlikely to be numero uno by about 2am tomorrow ... sniff. PS I don't recall hearing a very loud round of applause for the Big Yin being on the practice courts at 8.30am ... on the day he was flying out to LA. Girls, let him hear you ...

Congrats to Andy, cruises to semis! ESPN2 has stopped broadcasting tennis, racing car now?? Mary, you must be very happy about that! ;D and ditto, I didn't hear anything about Big Yin working hard. I even provided a picture to prove what I said. Well, everybody is very into the qurater-finals or still too overwhelmed by Rog's loss I figured.
