I really don`t feel like posting here today. As you can imagine, David lost on Sunday, Coria and Gaudio lost on Monday. Acasuso and Puerta played an all argentine match on Monday and Puerta won. He`ll face Cañas in the QF match (I hate when they play against each other), who got a WO (Kiefer). That`s all. An argentine player will be in SF, for sure. . I never expected another all argentine final at all. I didn`t expected an argentine player to be in the final (but I though it was possible), but I really would liked to see them doing it better (Nalbi, Coria and Gaudio). And Marat`s not there!!! I`m gonna cry, ...... Well, it`s just a tournament, lol. ;D ;D ;D

Forget what I said about my boys. When some of them don`t do it right, allways one of them is prepared to amaze me ;D Vamos Mariano!!!I`m very happy for him. He went through tough times, really tough times and he`s back. (I`ve been saying he`s back since February ) Amazing!!! Good luck Mariano. You`ll need some luck, but you just made me and many more happy ;D From RG`s official site (Some of the information is not very accurate ): (I`m really sorry Annie, but Kolya will be top 10 on Monday, and I`m sure he`ll play the Davis Cup that is on clay courts ) In search of Mariano Puerta
By Benjamin Adler Friday, June 3, 2005
French Open semi-finalist and clay court specialist Mariano Puerta has enjoyed a checkered career to date. We profile the 27 year old southpaw who remains relatively unknown outside his native Argentina.
Born in San Francisco in the state of Cordoba, Mariano's love for tennis came from his father, a coach, and from watching the exploits of Guillermo Vilas on television. By 18 he was among the top twenty players in the world and a regular Davis Cup player before a wrist injury sent his career into tailspin. "Mariano was very popular in Argentina before that injury. But then he just disappeared off the radar for a while", says Alfredo Bernardi from Argentina's "La Nacion" newspaper.
2003 isn't a year Mariano will forget in a hurry. Firstly, in January, he stepped out of an elevator on the 20th floor after hearing strange noises just seconds before the lift went crashing to earth. Had he stayed in the elevator he would have certainly died that day.
Then, in February, he tested positive for clenbuterol at the Viña del Mar tournament in Chile and picked up a nine month suspension. The ban was reduced from 2 years when he convinced the ATP authorities the substance was used to treat asthma, brought on by stress. "My only error in this whole affair was not to inform the ATP about my asthma" says Puerta. The ban took Puerta hard, sending him into depression as he slipped outside the top 400 and put on 15 kilos..
He returned to action at the Challenger tournament in San Benedetto Del Tronto in Italy on 5 July 2004 and reached the 3rd round. Since then he has played 34 tournaments, 32 of which have been on his beloved clay. Until this week his best performance came in Casablanca where he took the laurels and in Buenos Aires when he lost out in the final to compatriot Gaston Gaudio. His previous best showing at Roland Garros was a third round finish in 2000....

Emiliano Massa (ARG) and Leonardo Mayer (ARG) won the juniors doubles final. They defeated Sergei Bubka and Jeremy Chardy 2-6, 6-3, 6-4!!!! Well done boys!!! ;DJuan Martín del Potro (one, if not the most important argentine junior....., I really don`t know much about juniors... ) couldn`t do it in singles. He was defeated (64 62) in the QF by the 1st seeded Andrew Murray (GBR).

I really can`t say nothing new.... Great final. It`s a good day for Mariano`s fans, too (he played with his heart despite a little injury and some pains on the other leg). He`s such a fighter!!!! Nadal deserves to be the champion (we can`t deny he`s a fighter too!! Runs every ball) and Mariano deserves to be one of the top players. A master class of clay court tennis (and in a RG final!!) and sportmanship from both. There was so much expectation and hype about other matches (Nadal-Gasquet, Nadal-Federer)!!! But this one was a really GOOD one. ;D Much better than others.... As Mariano said in his speech, he may lost the final of RG, but he won his match "He brought out the best in me," Puerta said. "I lost to an excellent player. He's the best player in the world." The Argentine's efforts to force a fifth set won over the center-court crowd, who repeatedly chanted his name, and drew applause even from Nadal's coach and uncle, Toni Nadal. "Mariano played better tennis than Rafa," Toni Nadal said. "But Rafa had the luck when he needed it." from article: sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/tennis/specials/french_open/2005/06/05/bc.ten.french.open.men.ap/index.htmlStadistics PARIS, June 5 (Reuters) - Statistics from Spaniard Rafael Nadal's 6-7 6-3 6-1 7-5 victory over Argentine Mariano Puerta in the French Open final on Sunday:

By Matt Cronin Sunday, June 5, 2005
Spanish teen Rafael Nadal capped an amazing fortnight by overcoming a game Mariano Puerta 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-1, 7-5 to win his first Roland Garros men's title.
"Its' always been my dream to win this tournament," said Nadal, who became the first man to win in his debut since Mats Wilander in 1982. "It was such a tough match and a great final."
In a highly competitive and entertaining match between two talented left-handers, Nadal put up a defensive wall against the streaky Argentine, pulling off amazing shots on the run when it looked like he was totally out of points.
The 19-year-old Spaniard and the 26-year-old Argentine wowed the sold-out crowd on Court Phillipe Chatrier, going end to end chasing down each other's heavily topspinned blows. But in the end, it was Nada's ability to exhaust Puerta that keyed his victory, as he mixed in deft drop shots, slapping backhands and heavy forehand to every part of the court.
Puerta had won two heroic matches against Guillermo Canas and Nicolay Davydenko coming into the final, but couldn't muster up enough magic in the fourth set.
The Argentine held three sets points serving at 5-4 in the fourth set, but the Spaniard wouldn't quit, running wide and punching a backhand passing shot; taking a rapid exchange at the net where Puerta dove for a forehand volley and was unable to lift it over the net; and then watching the Argentine dump a forehand into the net.
After holding to 6-5, a pumped up Nadal seized the moment, ripping a backhand down the line, rifling a forehand winner that Puerta could only stare at and then winning the match when the Argentine erred on a forehand.
Nadal then slid on his back, threw his headband into the audience and pumped his fists. He then went up and shook the hand of Spain's King Juan Carlos and went up into the Friend's Box and embraced his parents, his sister and his coach and uncle Toni.
Just before the trophy ceremony, the 19-year-old from Mallorca wept tears of joy into his towel
Nadal, who's the first left-handed champion since Thomas Muster in 1995, is the tournament's fourth youngest champion.

WELL DONE GIRLS!!!!! (in this one Argentina and Spain won )Spain's Virginia Ruano Pascual (L) and Argentina's Paola Suarez (R) hold the winner's cup after winning their women's doubles final match in the French Open tennis tournament at the Roland Garros stadium, in Paris, June 4, 2005. PARIS, June 5 (Reuters) - Spain's Virginia Ruano Pascual and Argentine Paola Suarez confirmed their status as the world's number one women's pair by winning their fourth French Open doubles title on Sunday.
The top seeds, playing their sixth consecutive final at Roland Garros, beat second seeds Cara Black of Zimbabwe and Liezel Huber of South Africa 4-6 6-3 6-3.
Ruano Pascual and Suarez have now played 13 grand slam finals together, winning eight.
Black and Huber, playing their first grand slam doubles final together and teaming up at a major tournament for the second time, had a great start but their experienced opponents then took control of the match.
"We had to fight hard," said Ruano Pascual. "They played very well. They gave us many problems in the beginning. As the match progressed we understood how we had to play. We changed our game and it worked."
Ruano Pascual, 31, and Suarez, 28, have won 28 titles as a team. They had triumphed in Paris before in 2001, 2002 and last year.
"We've been playing together for a very long time," said Ruano Pascual.
"We know each other very well. We know exactly what the other one is going to do at each moment. We feel good together even outside the court and that brings us a lot."
The pair were less harmonious when asked about Sunday's men's singles final, with Ruano Pascual supporting compatriot Rafael Nadal and Suarez favouring fellow Argentine Mariano Puerta.
"We are not going to agree," said Ruano Pascual.
"No, we're not," Suarez confirmed.
