Oh gawwd. What a night. Have just watched Andy followed by Marat. Will somebody please take Andy aside and stick him in a gym or at least on a treadmill for 3 hours per day? He's got the brain, but not the brawn. I'm astonished he got past the 4 hour mark at all. Thought Marat didn't do too badly. Seemed more focussed on the game in hand. Don't think that because he lost it was necessarily the wrong tactics. The points he lost tended to be unforced errors. Maybe a new Marat is in the offing ... Ah well. I'm off to bed. Night night.

Murray to rest after doubles loss Auckland and Murray were no match for the Bryan brothers Andy Murray and James Auckland went out of the French Open doubles event to top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan on Friday. The British pair, who beat Australians Ashley Fisher and Jordan Kerr on Thursday, lost 6-1 6-3.
Greg Rusedski went out of the doubles as he and Tomas Zib lost 6-1 2-6 8-6 to Dominik Hrbaty and Michal Mertinak.
Murray, 19, played doubles despite picking up a lower back injury during his singles defeat to Gael Monfils on Tuesday and now plans to rest.
"I will now take three or four days off and then I'll start training light,"said Murray.
"But my back feels much better than it was after my singles match when even standing up was aching."
After making his major breakthrough at senior level during last year's grass-court season, Murray is looking forward to getting back on the surface.
"It's fun to play on grass because the rest of the year you play on hard and clay," he said.
"It's a nice change and it's good for your body because it's soft and you seal points quickly
"There is less chance you can injure your groin or twist an ankle.
"I really look forward to playing on grass. I played well last year, although I did not get the chance to prepare much for it."

Murray led the 2nd set 5-2 so it was hardly a great day as he lost 6-2 in the 3rd.
i no he is young but it seems from watching he is not interested in the game (kinda like Ronaldo for Brazil) but he's got loads of talent and anything less than winning Grand Slams in the future would be considered an underachiever. I think he needs to find a top quality coach ASAP!!!. He is not mature enough to travel by himslef on the tour!

i cant believe he lost his second serve needs improving and ur right a good coach is what he needs right now. there is talk that andy roddicks former coach Brad gilbert is up for the job but he is too expensive for murray!! also im sure this gilbert geezer used to coach aggassi and was really erratic in the audience. i prefer calm coaches and i think that is also what andy murray needs. (but i am no expert) also if he cant afford him then does this mean we have to see murray doing commercials left right and centre to make more money and thus not concentrate on his tennis? cant really see him as a la coste boy!! iman

Didn't see the game - but heard the result. Ah well. Time he started to use his temper properly. The boy had better start thinking about his tactics for Wimbledon - he's not an unknown quantity any more. Interesting that my thoughts about Brad Gilbert being a good coach for him could materialise - if the price is right by the sounds of it. I remember Gilbert from my early Wimbledon jaunts when he was a player. Indulged in a fair bit of 'gamesmanship' ... and he was pretty short-tempered. But he seems to be a pretty good coach. Make a good match with Andy. ;D Hee hee. If he had disagreements over his game with Petchey, it'll be fun hearing about how he fares with Gilbert if it happens. Wouldn't do him any harm to try and suss him out as a part time coach for a year at least.

Andy won. Mirnyi next up for him. Should be a straightforward match for Andy... No match is ever straightforward for a british player and with some1 with a serve like Max - it wont be easy but pulled of a great win against Mitya so who knows???

Long time no post here. I've been too busy posting in Marat's Wimbledon 2006 thread. ;D Tomorrow's my last day in London - so no more Wimbles for me now for another year. Great to see Andy play Roddick last night - and win so convincingly. Have to say though, if the match had gone on for another set or two, it could well have been his downfall. Looking forward to see him play Baghdatis. (Alan Mackin almost beat Baggy - and I have to say I was really disappointed in Baggy's gamesmanship when Mackin looked ready to seal the match. I'm a great believer that you should win a match fair and square). The possibility of Brad Gilbert coming on board as Andy's coach has now caused a lot of debate over who should foot the bill. The LTA or Andy? I think the LTA should continue to offer some financial support (think Tim got £25k per annum) but players have to foot the bill for their coach - after all, Andy isn't exactly going to be strapped for cash from now on. The money that the LTA are quoting is in the region of £500,000 - that could help out a lot more younger players, and it could make the difference for them becoming professionals ... and taking a lot of the burden off the parents.
