OFF COURT - CHAMPION DES CHAMPIONS
Roger has been named "Champion of Champions" for 2005 by French sports daily L'Equipe.
In a vote by l'Equipe journalists Roger received 676 points, placing him well ahead of second placed Valentino Rosso the world motorcycle champion from Italy, receiving 387 points. The third place went to Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso of Spain (324 points), the Ethiopian distance runner Kenenisa Bekele coming fourth (250 points).
Roger dominated men's tennis in 2005 completing a Wimbledon/US Open double for the second straight year and compiling an 81-4 winning record along the way. He is only the second tennis player to win the L'Equipe award in its 25-year history after Andre Agassi in 1999.
"Roger Federer is admirable not only for his successes," L'Equipe commented. "He also is the incarnation of perfection on a tennis court - powerful and at the same time elegant. He is without doubt the leader of a new generation of champions in all sports early in this new century."

Saw Rogers's match in Doha against Santoro, he won 7:6, 7:6 but the ankle support is still there and he's not moving too good again

Federer cruises into Qatar final
World number one Roger Federer booked his place in the final of the Qatar Open with a straight sets victory over Germany's Tommy Haas on Friday. Haas had progressed to the last four in Doha after beating Tim Henman in the second round and Russian Mikhail Youzhny in the quarter-finals.
But he was no match for the top-seeded Federer, who eased home 6-3 6-3.
Much better performance but still not at best

Did you notice that Roger came out on court without the ankle support and then put it back on after a couple of games I must admit that the semi final was waay too easy for federer...I guess first title for Roger in 2006

awwwwwww poor Roggie I personally think Rog is not in the best of shapes having seen him play Qatar (it obviously doesn't stop him from winning but...) I think AO might actually be interesting in this respect, at this stage anyone can win it really...I would like to believe it somehow LOL

Not that I dislike Roger [he just seems so nice that I think it is hard to not like him and he also has an Australian coach ] but I do think it gets a bit boring when he wins everything.
