No Davis Cup for Roger Roger Federer will not be part of the Swiss team, for the Davis Cup first round tie against Holland March 4 to 6. The Swiss champion has declared in a press release that his main goal for 2005 will be to retain his n°1 position on the ATP ranking, and that the Davis Cup first round being held during a very busy period, he found himself compelled to renounce. Absent from the BNP Paribas Masters due to a torn thigh muscle, he is expecting to be ready on time to defend his title at the ATP Masters Cup in Houston.

more on the DC saga...
Roddick, Hewitt an the Davis Cup Although his main rivals admit understanding Roger Federer's decision to skip the Davis Cup first round tie in 2005, they are not necessarily ready to do the same. "I can definitely understand him. I'm very excited to be in the next Davis Cup final, but at the same time that makes it an 11 months year which is unbelievable. So I can definitely understand where Roger comes from, but I don't know if I would make that decision personally" says Andy Roddick. Lleyton Hewitt also holds a similar reasoning. "I had chickenpox, and Juan Carlos Ferrero had chicken pox, and between the two of us, we've played probably the most Davis Cup matches over the years. I think you've either got to play it every second year, or give the top two nations a bye. Roger hasn't played in a Davis Cup final, but he's been very consistent. His Davis Cup record is impressive. But everyone has different priorities I guess. When I start out the year, my priorities are the four Grand Slams and the Davis Cup ties."

Tennis MASTERS CUP Roddick acclaims Roger Roger Federer can walk on water. That's the verdict of the world number one's arch-rival and EurosportNews Guest of the Week Andy Roddick. The big-serving American goes into next week's Masters Cup on home turf in Houston, but concedes that Federer's confidence could give him the edge. Excuse me whilst I *puke* myself senseless here

Yeah! Kinda surprise when I saw his picture from the Houston opening ceremony. Never saw Roger in other hair cut before, as I remember he had the pony for so many years. What made him changing it? Guess Mirka love that as I do. Marat, what you gonna do to surprise us in this tounament? Roger just scored one. ;D
