MOSCOW (Reuters) - Elena Dementieva and Nadia Petrova will lead champions Russia in next month's first round Fed Cup tie against Belgium.
With Anastasia Myskina, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Maria Sharapova unavailable, Russia captain Shamil Tarpishchev has called up Fed Cup newcomer Maria Kirilenko and Dinara Safina for the April 22-23 clash in Liege.
Former world number ones Justine Henin-Hardenne and Kim Clijsters are expected to lead the Belgium team.
Former French Open champion Myskina is taking a year off from her Fed Cup duties while 2004 Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova has skipped the tie because it is held on clay.

Well interesting controversy ONCE AGAIN pffttt Site www.tarpischev.com quotes Shamil Tarpischev about the upcoming team for the Fed Cup match against Belgium "I have had preliminary discussions with Elena Dementieva, Anastasia Myskina, Nadia Petrova and Svetlana Kuznetsova and they have all given their preliminary agreement to play the match. Most probably these will be the players representing Russia in the upcoming match. They might also be joined by Maria Kirilenko" OK, now I am totally lost .... if you compare the above with Ily's post from Reuters

I just dont now what to believe. But i am pretty much sure Nastya has said she will either miss the FEd Cup for THIS YEAR but i am also sure she ruled herself out of this tie anyway.
I am pretty confident about Lena as she has pride representing her country but not sure about the rest I think Dina should be included because she is one of our best doubles players
I am really lost on what to believe. Someone show us the way!

Petrova beats Schiavone in final Top seed Nadia Petrova beat Italy's Francesca Schiavone for the first time in five meetings to win the Bausch & Lomb Championship in Florida. The 23-year-old triumphed 6-4 6-4 for her second title of the year following her victory in Doha in Feburary.
Schiavone found it difficult to cope with the Russian's serve and also struggled with her own serve.
It was Schiavone's seventh loss in seven finals in nine years, and she said: "One day I'll do it, I promise".
Schiavone managed five double faults and also hit the ball long three times to end the match.
Petrova had reached the semi-finals in 2004 and 2005 but lost both times to eventual champion Lindsay Davenport.

Petrova wins back-to-back titles Russia's Nadia Petrova picked up her second successive WTA Tour title of the season after a three-set victory over Switzerland's Patty Schnyder. Petrova, who won her last tournament in Doha, Qatar, held off Schynder 6-3 4-6 6-1 to win the Family Circle Cup. Schnyder had been a surprise finallist after beating defending champion Justine Henin-Hardenne. But despite fighting back from a set down to ensure a deciding set, she crumbled against Petrova. The victory was Petrova's third title of the season - she also won in Amelia Island, Florida, last month. "I must say I can't believe I've done it," said Petrova. "I was really feeling bad today, I think it was the heat. "In the second set I had difficulties to move on court but then in the third set I suddenly I was three-love up, and I decided I would just give everything I have."
