Yesterday Nastya told the press that she will not play for Fed Cup next year. look here www.mosnews.com/news/2005/10/05/myskina.shtmlMaybe someone can tell Masha, even if she did not live in Russia she could play for "her" country like Dima Tursunov....

Tarpischev announced that Maria will play for Russia starting from next year. Maria confirmed that in her interview I have read a few days ago... Too bad about Nastya though

Even better news although i dont know if you guys posted it but.
Henin-Hardenne will miss Fed Cup
Justine Henin-Hardenne has announced she will not play for Belgium in the Fed Cup next year in order to protect her health and fitness. The former world number one has been struggling with a virus, which leaves her exhausted, as well as injuries for the last 18 months.
As a result, she has had to curtail her playing and training programme.
Belgium take on reigning champions Russia in the first round of the Fed Cup in 2006.
Henin-Hardenne's withdrawal is a huge blow for the Belgians.
US Open champion Kim Clijsters has already indicated she will skip the event if Henin-Hardenne does not take part.

Oh this is getting interesting Yesterday night there was a sports news block on a Sports Channel and there was furious Nastya telling everyone off!!!! Journalists "did their job" yet again..apparently she never said she was quitting the team, all she said that a Russian team needs some "new fresh" injections..that we have so many good young players, who should be given a chance to play but she never said she was going to quit! So Nastya was furious and denied it

She gave an interview and so did Tarpischev about it. They both said that she never announced she was leaving. If Tarpischev needs her and asks her to play, she gladly would ;D

Please correct if wrong

MOSCOW, Oct 10 (Reuters) - World number one Maria Sharapova said on Monday she wanted to play for Russia in the Fed Cup at some point in the future.
The Florida-based 18-year-old has turned down invitations to play for the country of her birth in the past in order to concentrate on improving her singles ranking.
Addressing reporters before the opening of the Kremlin Cup, Sharapova said: "I want to play for Russia, I definitely want to play for Russia in Fed Cup competition.
"I just don't know when I'll be ready to make my Fed Cup debut."
Russia have won the women's team tennis competition for the last two years without Sharapova's participation. Last year she was involved in a public squabble with Anastasia Myskina, who led Russia to their 2004 Fed Cup win.
Last week Myskina hinted that she might no longer play Fed Cup.
Sharapova added: "I didn't play (Fed Cup) this year because it would have been too tough for me but in the future yes, it's definitely one of my big goals.
"I also want to play in the Olympics and would love to represent Russia there as well."
Sharapova did not get a chance to play at last year's Athens Olympics despite winning the Wimbledon title a month earlier because she was not ranked high enough at the time.
A maximum four players from a single country could have played in the Olympics and Sharapova was not among Russia's top four when the selection was made.
Sharapova, who left Russia 11 years ago with her father to pursue her tennis career in the United States, arrived in Moscow last week and will make her Kremlin Cup debut on Wednesday.
"I definitely feel Russian inside, even when I'm in America I feel Russian," she said. "But coming here for the first time in years it made me feel even more so."

We have this sattelite company NTV+, who have 4 sports channels and Monday nights on one of them there is a sports program "Echo", one of the hosts of the program is Zhenya Kafelnikov (who is doing a hell of job as a TV star ;D ;D). Yesterday they invited Nastya Myskina to the program. Basically they talk about everything, tennis and life in general and people constantly phone in and ask questions. So someone called yesterday and asked Nastya whether she though a following lineup was possible for our FedCup team: Maria Sharapova Elena Dementieva Anatsacia Myskina Svetlana Kouznetsova Nastya smiled and said "No" P.S. They also announced yesterday that starting from next year NTV+ will open a 24 hour tennis channel where they will show nothing but tennis and talk about nothing but tennis ;D ;D ;D ;D Zhenya Kafelnikov will be a big part of that ;D YEEEEHAAAAAAA I LOVE THIS COUNTRY LOL

In general I can understand Nastya , but we will see what the futur will bring and maybe someday they could play in ONE TEAM and to NTV+ tennis: you are so lucky Annie. according to the "bad" performance of german tennis players the main tv companys have no interest to start a tennis-channel . they never ever realized that tennis is a global sport

What about Dina, she played a massive part in the doubles

Ily that was a question of a regular TV viewer, so I am sure Tarpischev has other plans and Dina is in them
