Aw jeez, tell me it's just the photo quality on the Blackberry and he ain't growing a beard? LMAO Big Yin - don't go for the ZZ Top look. You'll trip over your whiskers advancing to the net.

Mary, I love your sense of humour. Just trying to picture Marat looking like Father Christmas in tennis gear. ;D ;D ;D HoHoHo!!
Seriously, I don't mind if he doesn't shave too close, I think a few whiskers look quite cute - but I don't think he'd suit anything quite as full on as the one Dima is sporting at the mo!
As long as he keeps playing well - whatever works for him. Good luck in next round Marat

I've just had a thought. Maybe the Big Yin should do a 'BORG'. Bjorn wouldn't shave throughout the Wimbles fortnight as he thought it brought him luck! He'd shave after the tournament. 5 in a row ain't bad. Maybe our boy needs another focus - a lucky charm. Go with the whiskers boy!
Anybody know anything about Haas' game?

Not the most pleasant opponent to have to be honest. He is very tenacious, determined most of the time and rather uncomfortable to play against. However I think if Marat manages to show some domination from the beginning it shouldn't be a big problem, Haase is very passable... But then again...it's Marat we're talking about lol

Yh i saw Haase play in DC against Great Britain when Greg Rusedski retired- he is a pretty gung ho player, not great movement, big serve, a abit wayward with his volleys. Similar to Gulbis in his game, can lose easily or put up a dogged fight.
Played Marat last year and lost like 7-5 in 3rd set in Washington so............
But were in Valencia im hoping Marat will prevail!

Haase is a Dutchie:P! He plays really agressive, sometime a little bit too agressive! Serves good, nice strokes sometimes taken to quickly. I don't know how to explain but he wants it too badly if you know what I mean. He's a bit grabby.. When he plays good for a while or gets a break/set, just anything in his advantage, he can get really reckless but in the end he will fight for it again. He is a real hothead as well, actually. He is a really tough opponent for Marat I think. As said before: he can lose really quickly or put up a great fight.
Experts in Holland say he's got enough talent but mentally isn't there by far.
I'm sure Marat can beat him. It will be tough, but in the end I think experience will be very important! Go Marat!
Marat Safin vs Robin Haase : not before 3.30 on Center Court!
GOOD LUCK!

I think Marat SHOULD be capable of beating Haase , but Robin definitely "grew" a lot since last year, progressed pretty well, on the mental, physical and technical department! He's still a bit "grabby" like Anne already said, but who can blame him, he's still young and fully focussed on getting into the top 50! His game really reminds me on Marat's game in his early years... I really like the guy, but not as much as i like Marat's and am sitting here with a bit mixed feelings .... Ofcourse i sooo badly want Marat to win ;D Will be a very entertaining match ... If only there was a livestream DAVAI Marat .... Hope i can get home a bit earlier so i can follow the scoreboard
