I am not going to pretend to know everything about tennis or even what it is like being such a top player but Marat seems to need to work on his head more than his game. I am watching the game at the moment and Hewitt is not a better player he just has his head around the game better than Marat does.
The first set looked like Marat was a school boy playing against Hewitt, he seemed very intimidated.
I live only a few kilometers from Lleyton Hewitts house in Adelaide but I can't stand the guy and I really hope Marat wins. Hewitt seems very arogant, I understand top sports people being arrogant in thier talent and abilities but Hewitt seems arrogant in evertything.
The other night the crowd sang Happy Birthday to Marat an he seemed genuinely touched by their gesture. Even little things like getting a towel from the ball boys, Marat will nod his thanks or make a small gesture of thanks, nobody expects him to say thank you every time but Hewitt will hold his hans out and then throw the towel in the general direction of the ball boy while Marat will hand the towel back.
When Marat entered the court for the final he gave the boys a pat on the back as if to say thank you.
Marat has been having 'discussions' with the umpire in Spanish, our Australian commentators as going crazy not knowing what they are talking about, is is pretty funny.
Marat seems to be charging back into the game now and Hewitt is getting stressed, he has abused the linesmen twice and had a violation against him.
I had never really heard of Marat until the semis but if he can beat Hewitt, I will be a life long fan.
A friend of mine played Hewitt in junior tennis a few years ago and beat him and Hewitt was crying and saying 'you shouldn't have beat me, I am much better than you' That just goes to show the mentality of the person to say that when he is 14-15.
Well, it is the 3rd set now so I will watch the finish.
Tis is the score thus far.
Marat 1 6 6
Hewitt 6 1 4
One last thing, I am really glad that the crowd at the court is getting behind Marat, not as much as they are Hewitt but they are getting behind him a bit, I thought as he was playing Hewitt they would just get behind Hewitt.
The commentators mentioned that Marat was a bit of a party boy liking his drinks and smokes, Australians love that type of stuff. Whereas Hewitt comes of as a bit of a machine.
Hope he wins
P.S. whoever built this site did a great job, it is really professional.
