Marat Safin's old jeep brings trouble for member a of Russian boyband 'Dynamite'.
Moscow: 19/05/2003
Leonid Nerushenko and tennis player Marat Safin have rekindled their friendship. They not only spend time at parties together, but very recently went on holiday to the Arab Emirates together. As reported in 'Life' newspaper, during the journey, Nerushenko took advantage of Marat's weak and complacent condition and hinted that he would lke to buy one of the cars from Safin's vast collection. "Marat has so many elegant cars that I don't think even he knows how many he has" joked the musician. "And I wanted to buy his Mitsubishi 'Padzhero' jeep, which was a favourite of Marat's. For the two year-old foreign car, Marat asked only a purely symbolic price of $10,000. [ten thousand dollars]."
Leonid happily accepted his proposal, sold his old Mercedes, found the extra money and paid his friend. But hardly had the 'Dynamiter' changed driving seats with Safin, than he found the car had troubles. It was explained that this foreign version consumes much more gasoline than standard cars. And then to crown it all, a newspaper reported that a 'gazelle' ran into Safin's ex- jeep one night, and ruined the right-side of the elegant car.
[The writer is making a sarcastic allusion to Nerushenko pre-arranging the 'accident' to claim the insurance on the car because he wasn't happy with it]
