So on Saturday (March 10th) i went to Indian Wells for the Pacific Life Open for my friends birthday. I was reaaaaaaaally excited cause, well, it's a HUGEEE tournament with a lot of practice courts where i can track down my "husbands" and favorite players. We left at like 8 to get there, had to drive around 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to the tournament site. Indian wells is in the middle of nowhere, literally in the desert. We got there and looked around went to see Ana Ivanovic vs. Vania King. Then after the first set we went to the practice courts. I saw Maria Kirilenko, Marcos Baghdatis, Ivan Ljubicic, Tommy Robredo, Tommy Haas, Paradorn Srichaphan and a wholee bunch of people practicing:
But i couldn't find Marat!! No surprise though cause it was like 10 o'clock and Marat likes to practice in the afternoon. There was a court with a WHOLLEE Lot of people and so we went there and it ended up to be Rafael Nadal. I was too short to see over the crowd so i decided to climb the fence and take a few pics:
I stayed on the fence till the security guard forced me to come down.. hahaha. but wowww he is like..REALLY masculine and cute
then we went to the players lounge area and waited to see if we could see some of our fav. players. Nieminen, Berdych, Jankovic, Hantuchova, Vaidisova and a few others passed by. We were about to leave for the Moya match, BUT THEN..
i saw a person in a light blue t-shirt coming out. and it was Mr. Marat Safin himself!
He read my t-shirt which says "Mrs. Marat Safin" and said something, but i couldn't really hear what he said. I just know that there was a "no" somewhere in there . haha OH WELL. I followed him to his practice court and managed to get a good spot right behind his chair. He practiced for about 45 minutes with Robin Soderling, and YES. He was shirtless ;D. It was like 100 degrees so most people were practicing shirtless:
his trademark turquoise CKs!
I was SOOOO close to him that if i wanted to i could have touched touched his back or hugged him from behind, but then i didnt want to get thrown out or have him make a restraining order on me! i was already wearing my mrs. Marat safin shirt! He played a set with Soderling and hit a few vollys while volkov was giving him a few pointers here and there. His backhand was on FIREEEE. so when he left everyone was chasing him and he surprised us all by going out not through the gate but through the stadium steps where everyone was not waiting. But i managed to get another autograph on my visor. He stayed for 10 minutes to sign and take photos. After he left and talked to Dinara and they walked out together towards the players lounge.
Afterwards another huge crowd was around this particular court and it was Roger Federer practicing. I had to go up top to the main stadium area to be able to see him:
he really hits the ball supppppper cleanly.
Went to get some food cause it was like.. SCORCHING hot. 5.50 for a lemonade, what a ripoff! went to look for some shade and while i was eating my nachos Dmitry Tursunov walked through unexpectedly. So then of course me and my friend got up and caught up to him. We looked like crazy women cause i was carrying my empty nachos box and napkins were flying behind us as we speedwalked. We asked for a picture and i showed him my nails which said "I *heart* Tursunov" and he said "they're lovely" hahah. watched him practice took a few pictures and then took another picture with him:
he started out with some running and warming up along the grass area and then after played a set with a player that i dont know the name of. His wrist didn't look like it bothered him that much.
Watched Fernando Verdasco practice for a bit before we went to watch Arnaud Clement vs. Rafael Nadal:
he is smoooooooooookin hot
and the last match of the day before we left we watched Richard Gasquet vs. J Del Potro:
i hope that next time i see Marat ill have the sane-ness to actually carry out a conversation with him and not just ask him for a picture and say "omg omg omg" over and over again!!
The whole day everyone was pointing at me and laughing! Or they would read my shirt under their breath and everytime i would hear "Marat Safin" i would freak out and be like "WHERE!!" and look more like a crazed fan
