Here is an e-mail we received at our TGFR e-mail address, thought I should post it here ;D
Hello Ruth!! (someone hasn't been here in a while LOL)
Here's a pre-story. Last year as an exchange student i
wnet to Budapest. There for a couple of months i was
sharing a room with a girl, Jenja. It was very much
fun cause we were totally different, we had nothing in
common, like: she likes dogs, i like cats and so
further. So tennis was not among her major interests,
and she barely knew before Budapest names of top
Russian players. I told her a lot about Safin, the
greatest guy on tour, and she told me a lot about her
dogs, the greatest dogs in the world... Before coming
back to Moscow we agreed: I meet her dogs, she goes
with me to a tennis match. Last year, I couldn't do it
with the Kremlin Cup for her, and for some reason i
went with some other people to 1st round Davis Cup
when Marat was playing. Finally, we decided we'd go to
the Kremlin cup this year, and only after we got the
tickets we learnt Marat wouldn't play. No luck. BUT
this Saturday at midnight i get an SMS from her: LENA!
I'M AT A NIGHTCLUB STANDING NEXT TO MARAT!!!!!!! I
ask: Where? She: Real McCoy. And then I realize i
can't go cause i was at a party very far away from
there and i arrived on car and i was already drunk and
everybody was drunk and nobody could take me there...
But i tell her: Come up to him and say he's a great
player and he has great fans and one of them even
skipped a workday only to see his semifinal match
against Federer in Australia )))
She says she'll do it. I call her in a half an hour
and she says: she still hasn't got enough courage but
she will. So finally, at around 2 a.m. She did it:))))
Personal hello to Marat from all of the fans ))) He
was very nice she said, he thanked her and smiled in a
very nice way. At 5 a.m. she was still too excited:
she says i can't believe it was him. He's so AMAZING!
So that's the story. Marat is here in Moscow, and if
you're really lucky you can even cross paths with him
somewhere.
