Adidas International Tournament 2003

I played tennis with Marat Safin at the adidas International 2003.
I visit the tournament every year and I worked there for 5 years so i know my way around the tennis centre. I was walking around and saw all these adidas promotional things set up on the main practice court. I overheard that Marat Safin was going to be coming out to have a hit with some celebrities. So I
waited.
OH, he is so beautiful!!! I couldnt believe it when I saw him for the first time in real life. Anyway, taking photos for the press, he started hitting with these people who I have never seen in my life and they were supposed to be celebrities. I overheard one of the guys playing that he was a journalist for a
television network here in Sydney.
Then... they picked this little boy from the crowd. It was like a dream for this kid. All i could do was imagine it was me. I thought up every excuse to get me on the court. Marat's coach walked past, he had seen me throughout the promotion and I so I asked him how come no women were playing against Marat and
that it wasnt fair for them to just choose guys.
At that moment, I dont think I could believe what was going to happen. The organiser of this promotion came up to me and asked me if I was enjoying the day, then asked me my size foot because she was going to give me shoes to hit with MARAT!! OMG!!!!!!!!!! This was a dream come true!!!!!!
I quickly got thru the crowd and put on the brand new adidas shoes that Marat wears, you know the new black ones. I hit against him, it was unbelievable. He started hitting softly and he said "I cant beat the lady" and i told him to just "give it to me!". So we had a good hit. We were in the middle of a good rally and I thought, im just going to go for it... I smacked him a forehand cross-court that Marat could not return. He stood there dumbfounded. It was awesome. The crowd cheered and clapped, it was like a dream, my moment of victory against the world number three. I walked to the net and shook his hand. I could not manage one word out of my mouth. He
said "That wasa good shot!" and im just looking up at him, I couldnt believe it, I was speechless.
A day in my life i will never ever forget. I will send the picture in the next email. The company that took the photo sent it to me in the mail and so once the photo was developed, the organisers had Marat sign the photo.
