Shanghai Tournament Report 2002

I'm so exciting that I saw Marat on sports new last night. Marat arrived in Shanghai about on 10:00 yesterday morning. He dressed a black medium coat, with a black baseball cat. Reporters commented that Marat looks very shy, not as people's impression that he is a 'bad boy'. Marat tried to evade reporters, so he wasn't go out from the VIP access (the organizer prepared it for masters), he choiced another access. But he's a so big and handsome guy, after all. How can't the reporter notice him? When the reporters throng around him and take pictures, our handsome Russian's face turns red. He signed to his fans and sit in his Benz.
Another funny information is: Tomorrow morning, (11th November) according to tradition of the Master's Cup. The organizer will arrange a small openning ceremony on Chenyi Square. All 9 players(including Johansson) will dress the frock of Tang Dynasty, the same of the presidents who came to Shanghai and joined the APEC meeting last year. The players will leave Hilton Hotel by 9 open freight Benz and go to the square straightaway. The compere will introduce them to the crowd one by one. And the 9 masters will accept flowers from children's hand. Whereafter, players will sign on 2 tailor-made tennis balls. After the openning ceremony, Marat and other guys will go to the Shanghai International Meeting Centre to join the interview by sightseeing tunnel bus.

Marat appeared his confidence before the reporters. He said:' I have 7 tough opponents. Lyton is a very good player, but I defeated him in Paris. I have more confidence than I was in Paris to defeat him again. I accept to meet Agassi in the final.'

Marat is really popular with audience. He seems had a good mood before he played Costa. A lot of female fans threw down the rabbit toy to him. Marat let assistant received them. And he signed to fans. During the match, a lot of audience cheered him on, really more than Costa's. When he played a beautiful serve, when he played a great ball, when he struck the ball under his crotch, when he depressed, the audience all give him passionate applause. Actually, the atmosphere gave Costa much pressure, so as to he shouted 'Costa' after he won a tough bout.
