So he is playing in Lyon instead of St Petersburg??? Kremlin Cup was a no brainer! I would say the appearence fee has something to do with it..... just an idea...

Yup, the organisators said he asked for too much money.

Yup, the organisators said he asked for too much money. I would'nt exactly say Marat asked for too much money. This happens frequently with Marat as many of the smaller tournaments wanting big stars to play in their tournament but not paying above their weight!

I`m guessing kuniochi`s " " smilie was for organizers for talking to the press about a player`s demands... Anyway..., I`m sure Marat playing a Russian tournament means tons of tickets sold. Of course, he could lose in first round too It wouldn´t be the first time I remember that time he played the Barcelona tournament and there was a small buzz about his appearence fee and he lost in 2 sets to Acasuso in R32. I`m sure that was hard not only for Marat, but for the organizer´s pocket too Whatever...., is a sport, that things happend

I doubt Marat will paly there again. And he's got a point. That's very rude, because he has already won the tournament. But anyway, he will play in France. And he loves France!

Well, for sure it's not fair from the organizer to tell that in the press... Must be pissed off... But anyway, maybe he thought that Marat is so much in need for points that he would get down on the price... Well, at the end it's a good news for the french people because Marat is coming to Lyon !

Somehow I can understand the organizers... I don`t know exactly which where their words.., but I guess the had to explain the reason why Marat is not playing the tournament. LOL Anyway, someone looses, someone wins. I guess a lot of French fans are happy ;D And French fans seem to adore Marat, so he`ll recieve a nice treatment over there

Cannot translate it properly, I'm sory. I'm sure it's not Marats fault. He knows his price and why should he makes compromise? My thought was that this kind of things should not be announced. Marat and the organisators didn't come to an agreement. Ok, put it this way, it's not necessary to give details......but never mind, that's my personal opinion.
