When did you become a fan of Marat ?

I've been wondering for a while how you guys got to discover Marat...

I discovered him in 1998 in RG when he played his first round against Agassi. At the beginning, I watched the match for Agassi... at the end I was in love with Marat... hasen't stopped since then ;D ;D ;D

Well I was always aware of him ever since he won the US Open in 2000.
But like myrella, I properly took notice of him durin Auzzie Open in 2004. I have been hooked ever since and have always been the BIGGEST Marat fan!!! ;D
Most of my friends are Roddick supporters so they have tried to convert me, but I'm pleased to say they failed!!!

When he won the US open. I thought WOW and compared to the likes around then, Agassi [still], Sampras, Rafter [ok, I had a soft spot for him] etc, I thought he stood out big time. That and the fact that English was his second language, yet he had a wicked sense of humour in English. Six years on, I am still drooling

The US Open final is amazing, but I prefer the AO semi against Roger (and the semi at Houston 2004 because he's so hot in it even if he lost)

I like him in Bercy but in Houston 2004 he was He lost but the match was really good ;D ;D

Believe you or not,at first I only liked his tennis ... And I wasn't supporting him all the time I didn't have many oppurtinities to watch tennis,but,at least,every year I could watch Wimbldon and RG live...So,I had noticed him first time at last year RG...And,he seemed to me like a pretty serious guy,maybe 28,29 years old,who was playing a really good,interesting tennis,and I liked the fact that all the matches with him lasted at least 4 sets!Some man who was commenting the matches said something like:Marat Safin is very interesting player...No one can play so bad like he can,and no one can come back in the game like he can!And,the holy day when I found out who actually Marat Safin is,finally came!I was on some tennis site,and I saw the link-and one click was enough for me to become addicted! I saw some photos,and I read some interviews and quotes...And,OMG,he's been the man who I totally admire since then...And,you know,I am not that crazy about celebrities,I'm only crazy about ONE AND ONLY MARAT SAFIN!!!
