Hi SAFFINO1, I haven't been able to get near the computer for a while, had to stamp all over my husband and daughter to get this far,,. (wipes sweat from brow). To answer your question, set your compass for Captain Cook country and you'll be heading in the right direction. All the snow has gone now but we went out every day. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Our neighbours had a party at the weekend and finished it off with some fireworks. The final rocket exploded in a shower of twinkling silver sparks that spread out across the sky which had the colour and texture of black velvet. It was a very simple effect but beautiful at the same time and everyone went 'aaahh'. It felt as if we were being sprinkled with star dust.

Do you have private fireworks or displays organised by the city? I don't think individual displays can compete with such spectacular ones organised against the backdrop of a city.
