I'm really happy about our victory  uff but my heart beats a lot  Like I said penalties are a question of luck but tonight Portugal deserves that luck. Our goalkeeper, Ricardo, was amazing, he defended 3 penalties(yes 3, it was a record established, never in a WC a goalkeeper defended 3)  But all the team deserves congratulations. My country is until now celebrating, me included. The streets are invaded with people, flags, a mix of green and red  We are at the semis only for the second time and now we are facing France but I hope the result will be different from Euro2000. Go Portugal!!! |

i am happy for the portuguese fans.......and i think france vs portugal is goign to be immense as is italy vs germany now that argintina and brazil are out  the world cup is anyones for the taking!!!!!!! i am dissappointed in englands performance though...i dont know what sven was thinkin taking only 4 strikers!!!!!!! and also...how can england play brilliantly with ten men for 60 mins and then screw it up royally on penalties!!!! they threw the game away and all their efforts and hard work!!! this is very disppointing!!! so now i am supporting france all the way (only because zidane is my fav all time player) also i hope italy beat germany because then i get look at cannavaros cute face for another match!!!! lots of love iman xx |

Hey guys,
Something's been bothering me for a while. It actually started with the Davis Cup in Pau with France vs Russia.
Everybody was against the french guys and said it. One of you didn't understand that we were supporting the french team once Marat had played his match. I understand that you guys want to see as much Marat as you can, but having everybody against us is not really funny.... specially reading some of the things that are posted.
It all sarted again with the football.... everybody seems to be really sad that France won vs Brazil. I'm really sorry but they totally deserved it considering the match they played.
I think you could try having a little consideration for the french people that are around, some are here everyday and pretty active on the forum.

It was not luck. I was expecting England to win this one, but as I said yesterday about Arg.´s match, the match must be win in the 90 minutes. I´m really sorry for all our English fans here.... Trust me I know what you feel...  About the penalties, IMO Portugal´s goalkeeper (Ricardo?) deserves all the credits. He was AMAZING!!! If I`m not wrong he ¿guessed? all the right sides of the shots and saved the ones needed to win despite Portuguese player`s mistakes when they had to execute their penalties. INCREDIBLE!! It is so fixed that I can even bet on it...this cup is on Germany's hands. Honestly, I don´t have that feeling. Locals tend to feel more "comfortable" when the whole crowd cheer for them... And that happends in most sports. Locals winning or having a great performance in the WC is not strange in WC´s history. This includes Argentina78´ which was a reeeeeeally suspicious victory. But I don´t feel this is the case. Brazil continues being the favourite IMO, but they´ll have to prove it. Do you guys really think they were gonna host the wc and sat down to watch...c'mon! U can see that ame from Germany and ecuador, the fist game was soooo fixed, just look at ecuador who even PELE called "cinderealla team" how they played totally different games with their opponents, after that germany took lead. They have the cup at home and they are planning to keep it there. Just as France did in 98, the country tries to do as much as possible so that their team keeps the cup. Abou emma's reaction, I know some people are mad bout France winning, but, it won the one that had to win...Its is dissapointing to see Brasil loose, not only for their records but for THE STARZ team they have, my god! do you know how much is that team worth compared to the others so that they loose...at least to reach the final was expected and not even that. Ronaldo Ronadiho,KAKA...they are all good so...of course expectations were high. But France won it so, I guess they deserve it more. |

A few months ago ' almost ' every girl on TGFR was against me !
You was very hard for me , even a month later when i was back on TGFR you was the first for picking again on me !
NOBODY deserves that .......... Emma ...... not you ... not me !!
But this time i wrote not a word about the french team !
Let the best team be WC 2006 ! Maybe France ......... why not ?
But there where a few girls who send me nice PM 's !

hi emma i am sorry you feel like this but i think everyone is just so passionate about tennis/footbal when they post a message here but that does not mean that we do not have respect for other countries or france! brazil going out is a shock to everyone but that does not mean that people hate the french for knocking them out!! right everyone?  if one is a true fan of football the game than i can imagine that there is a great hero that u admire on every squad...eg zidane, figo, beckham, cafu, cannavaro, raul, essien etc etc etc even germany have a great hero....klinsman the manager is amazing and a true legend so what im trying to say is even though i support england who are out....and now i am rooting for france...i still have great respect for italy, germany and portugal becasue all the players in the world cup finals have great talented players who make the game so watchable...and i am sure everyone feels the same way!!!....i hope!!! i hope this makes sense and i have jibbered on and on!!!!:0 iman xxx |

Hey, please calm down ;D Both of you respect each other so there's no point arguing Emma, I don't think everybody is against France : everybody was just cheering for Brazil ! And we can understand this as it is a great team !!!! But our boys deserved their win as they really played great. I'm happy to see Zidane still playing so well for his lasts matches ;D As for DC, I stood for Russia because I remembered 2002. At the time I thought I was for France, I just wanted Marat to win his matches and our team to win. But when the last match started (PHM against Misha), I was really upset because Misha was playing so bad, and I thought "All Marat's efforts will be destroyed if he loses". So since then I have been cheering for Russia, 'cause I knew that Marat was more important to me than my own DC team ;D ;D ;D I'm also happy for Portugal. Ricardo was impressing !!! I was still a bit disappointed for england but well... Both of them couldn't have won !! I hope germany will make it to the finals, where I hope they meet our country |
