Dear Annie ;D I would like to know how is the school system in Russia?Could you explain me a bit? But don't want to cause troubles..of course. Dear Elisabeth ;D ;D LMAO You're not causing any trouble. The school system is something like this. 1. From 3 till 7 kids go to kindergarten. 2. We go to school from the age of 7 and our school lasts for 11 years. 3. First to third year is junior school, then until the 9th year is intermediary school and the last three years are senior school. 3. Grades are from 1 to 5, 5 being the highest mark you can get. 4. You school year is divided into quarters. At the end of every quarter you get grades for each and single subject you study. ALL subjects are compulsory, you cannot pick and choose, you have to do them all. You also get intermediary grades throughout the whole quarter and the average of those will be your end of the quarter mark. 5. If you finish school with straight 5s you get a medal and this gives you an opportunity to enter University with just one entry exam (as opposed to three normally) If you get a 5 in your first exam to Uni and y0u have a medal from school you're automatically in the University. If you get less than 5, you sit for the other two exams. Education in Government schools is supposedly free of charge. But you get into school for free only if this school is in your area. Any school in the area you live is obliged to accept kids living in that area. If you're trying to get into the school in another area, you will have to pay in order to do so.

Why is study of medicine so popular in Russia. I mean so many people go to Moscow to study to become a doctor from India.

Well aparently Joy Russian medical education is considered to be one of the best in the world. Students have a lot of practical sessions and the methods are very innovative. I am very far from all this medical stuff hun so I can't really explain in great detail. However, LOADS of foreign students come to study medicine in Russia and compared to other countries it's very cheap to study here

I know that´s difficult to say but just what would you prefer to see as a tourist ;D Sweetie there is absolutely no way I can pick between the two LOL I think the ideal trip will be coming to Moscow, spending about three days here and then hopping on a train and going St. Petersburg for about a week. There are more places to see there, especially all the palaces which are on the outskirts. So you can easily fit everything into about 10 days and you get to see both Trains are very frequent between the 2 and aren't that expensive. If you wanna get there faster it's more expensive but only an hour and a half by plane When you decide upon your trip, let me know. I will help you organise everything. You'd be surprised how much cheaper some things might be here than if you buy them in Germany

Annie, would you believe this, once I was soooo mad about learning tennis, that I thought of taking up medicine and coming to Moscow and then learning tennis eventually ! Crazy little, weird me. But that idea still brings a twinkle in my eyes. DREAMS NEVER DIE.

Giselle sweetie I know I haven't answered you yet but I would really like it if you could specify your question a little bit. If you go through the thread you will see that we have discussed quite a few aspects of Russian life here, so see what's missing and tell me, OK? And I will gladly add more information
