Ok.......I remembered that the eye is symbol of ancient Egyptian Religion. The Eye of Horus So I did some checking (Mara beware this is long Eye of Horus Horus, the famous solar falcon god of ancient Eqypt There is an ancient Egyptian myth of the cosmic battle between the solar falcon god Horus ad the sun eating serpent god Set. Symbol representing his eye......Eye of Horus was a powerful symbol used to protect from evil. There is more info but I don't want to bore you all !! Now the 'bar code' I think its Hieroglyphs As u know used by the Egyptians Hieroglyphs Representing the sound of the object or an idea associated with the object A modern type of hieroglyphic writings would be Rebus which is a picture puzzle. Reading the sounds which symbolized by the pictures. So........the writings under the Eye may say a lot about our habibi.......would be all not like to know the signifcance of such So go figure! I know I would love to know the meaning. I wish Melusine was around........she would I am sure have a much better insight to Horus!! than me (as in Teresa!) And on a personal note, I don't have any objection to the tattoos.......they can be sexy !! and being a superstious person myself I sometimes wish I had the Eye of Horus to protect me......haha

This I hope you all will find interesting.......and if not and if I have bored any of you, forgive me. I won't post any more of this stull. But I find it fascinating. I am going to post a type of Rebus, and then that's it Eye of Horus No Frames Navigation Info The highly stylized eye of the falcon-headed solar and sky god Horus (the Latin version of Her), which is associated with regeneration, health, and prosperity. It was very common as an amulet in ancient Egypt. Horus, the son of Osiris and Isis was called 'Horus who rules with two eyes'. His right eye was white and represented the sun; his left eye was black and represented the moon. According to myth Horus lost his left eye to his evil brother, Seth, whom he fought to avenge Seth's murder of Osiris. Seth tore out the eye but lost the fight. The eye was reassembled by magic by Thoth, the god of' writing, the moon, and magic. Horus presented his eye to Osiris, who experienced rebirth in the underworld. As an amulet, the Eye of Horus has three versions: a left eye, a right eye, and two eyes. The eye is constructed in fractional parts, with 1/64 missing, a piece Thoth added by magic. The Egyptians used the eye as a funerary amulet for protection against evil and rebirth in the underworld, and decorated mummies, coffins, and tombs with it. The Book of the Dead instructs that funerary eye amulets be made out of lapis lazuli or a stone called mak. Some were gold-plated. Worn as jewelry fashioned of gold, silver, lapis, wood, porcelain, or carnelian, the eye served to ensure safety, preserve health, and live the wearer wisdom and prosperity.

Sorry Marat, I think it looks awful. And if it's supposed too be the eye of Horus, then I hope you sue the tattoo artist, because it's the worst version of that famous symbol I have ever seen - it's like a child drew it!! And the barcode underneath? That's just as waste of beautiful flesh If that's supposed to be hieroglyphics then I'm cleopatra!!! Either you went to a tattoo artist with cataracts, or they have some other deep, symbolic meaning that we don't get. ....... or you were drunk and went 'yeah, I want that one! I don't care if it's a barcode on your pepsi can, just give me a damn tattoo!!' ;D

Maybe the glyphs say someone's name and he doesn't want anyone to know what it says...I don't know, Marat seems a tad rebellious and if he ever reads this stuff we write, I bet he laughs and it only encourages him to be even more weird....how cute is that?!

I don't like it, no matter who it is or what it is. I don't like tatoos in the first place and I hate ugly tatoos (in the second?? ).

I know someone personally who seems to have a penchant for ugly tattoos--how unfortunate. I don't really care for tattoos either, and I think if one decides to have a tattoo, then one should at least go to a good skin artist. Marat's do look a little "home made" or whatever!! Hee, Hee!

I always think of it this way: I'm never getting a tatoo, but others excercise a right to do it. I'm not protesting, but I'll be suing people who spoil my view.

My parents were going to let me get a tat once I turned 18, then I was the one who backed out!! You are right, Vass, it spoils the view, the skin.....

U know the picture is not so clear, if it were a better angle or view it may not look so distorted, I agree that the hieroglyphs (if that 's what that is) makes the overall image cumbersome, whereas the 'eye' I think is fine. The thing is what it 'the eye of Horus' represents that must be important and to Marat. The 'eye' to ensure safety, preserve health, and give the wearer wisdom and prosperity. Marat must want these 'things' in life, and so feels that wearing the symbol will help him to obtain such. Now if you are superstious one could say that the 'eye of Horus' protected Marat in Rome. and if you have a sense of humor you could say that the 'eye of Horus' will hopefully impart wisdom on Marat not to have any more tattoo's ;D And please Horus whatever.........please, safety, and health are paramount to prosperity and wisdom

U know the picture is not so clear, if it were a better angle or view it may not look so distorted I made the tattoo bit a bit clearer on my comp, but believe me it looks better in this blury version!!!! about the whole "meaning" and "significance" of the tattoo, I don't know, on the safinator MB it says something totally different. I don't know what his motivation was to get this tattoo, Personally I'd like to believing the whole getting the tattoo done while he was drunk thing, that would be an acceptable explanation for getting THOSE tattoos. I don't have ANYTHING against tattoos, they can be great on the right place on the right person, if it is the right design. but I think these latest ones are a waste!!!!! -xxx-jes me
