trying to bring this thread back on topic is a hopeless cause, I tried it a couple of times too, but we always seem to digress again. But it's fun!! ;D Marat has a place in Miami? I only knew about his appartment in Monaco, and his loft in Moscow. When did he get a place Miami ? (btw are we talking about a house, flat, appartment, loft?) -xxx-jes me erm...can't remember...but it's near the beach... if i remember correctly... sigh... i'm trying to write a report... but end up posting messages online...ahahahahah |

I visit Christine's forum too and I remember that during AO there was also a HUGE debate about Dasha so I don't understand this 'oops i forgot who i am' comment  it is really hypocritical . Besides very often our posts are just jokes... I mean some of the messages about Dasha's dress were just funny and people who come here only occasionaly think that we are serious... Believe me 'oops i forgot who i am' we are not always serious... Just relax, we never offend anybody here. And I agree with Ruth that there seems to be some kind of "war" between the boards, which I don't understand because everywhere are the same people. Like I said I visit that forum sometimes but I just don't post messages and I don't go there so often because I don't like the shape of that board (I never know which messages are new and it's definitely too big :  but I like the people who post there permanently and I feel no competition between us. Like you say, we all are fans of the same guy, we should keep together and don't criticize eachother. If someone wants to criticize she/he should read the WHOLE forum first and get to know us a little bit more... Then she/he would know that we can't always be taken seriously. |

I think we're all happy enough here; I know it won't be everyone's taste and that's cool, I just don't like being criticised on someone elses board like that....oh well, never mind  Anyway! ;D Re: Miami appartment >> I think he bought it back in summer 2002(?) and it's in an exclusive area of Miami, in or near the Art Deco area (sorry, I can't remember the names of the places....) It's an appartment and he lets his friends stay there during the year. He uses during the American season when he's practicing and I think it's also a clever financial investment because he'll be able to sell it for a huge profit in a few years time There was an article or interview about him in miami done just after he's bought the appartment and it's mentioned - dunno if it's on tgfr.com - if it is it will be on www.theguyfromrussia.com/pressconference.htm somewhere ;D |

Yes, it's true - it was at an American tournament (think it was Miami) and all top 10 players were given a mercedes to drive during the tourney. Well Marat crashed his into a lamp post (nothing serious) but he went back to the transport desk and demanded a replacement (it was Mal Washington's wife who dealt with his complaint). He was told there was no replacement and Marat got angry and said something like 'well F*** you!' and stormed off. Apparently he caused quite a scene..... Unfortunately, it's true... not one of Marat's finer moments.... it was originally reported by Jon Werthenheim so you might be able to find it in his archives. Re: appartments - this is what he owns as far as I know: Loft appartment in Moscow Appartment in Geneva, Switzerland in the same block as Rosset, Santoro, Escude and others. (Dunno if he's sold this though) Appartment in Miami (the most recent property) Appartment in Monte Carlo. |
