I receive google alerts for any thing Marat Safin which usually churns out the same boring stuff but today i received one and rather than Hotlinking which we cannnot do HA Ha Rules etc etc

I will post what is in the article it seems that the American Press has yet to catch up on what we already know here at TGFR.

But this comp is something that maybe Marat fans will have to be involved in next year.

I arrived at the tournament with the academy, only to watch Juan Carlos lose his match in 3 sets to a qualifyer which wasn't great seeing Juan Carlos is really the tournament front man so to speak. But none of the Spanish had a good day yesterday!

To Marat's match
Firstly I stumbled onto Peter while I was getting out of the Port o Loo he was stuffing his face with food right up to the last minute. He needs to go on a diet, but he was dressed all in black and looked a lot better in real life.

I went up to my seat and saw Marat come out. Peter was with a guy I had never seen before, may be new trainer and a blond which I missed seeing come in.

I really hate Marat's hair, not only does the bun look longer, it is now also very frizzy, so goodness knows what his hair looks like out. I had just seen Gaudio and I really don't like that look. My daughter didn't speak to Marat but asked Gaudio if he had given Marat some tips on doing his hair. He looked a bit miffed. Marat also looks a lot stronger in the upper body, but he had very thin legs which kind of looked funny somehow.

When Marat and Andreev started the match it was a whole different ball game (excuse the pun) to Ferrero's, much faster, deeper balls, really going for it.

Marat got off to rather a shaky start however. 3 double faults in the first game which quickly gave Andreev 3 - 0 up. I thought it was going to be rather a quick match for Andreev, but then Marat settled and although he played 2 terrible games he did well to come back and win the tie break. Andreev though could read Marat's serve like a book so they are obviously used to playing each other. He is a beautiful player the only dumb shot which he reapted a few times was the drop shot he tried behind the baseline which would never go in. From there it was pretty non eventful. One point Andreev shanked a ball and Marat caught it in his pocket and eveybody laughed. But apart from that Marat played really with no emotion what so ever. I would have sworn he had been put on Valium if I didn't know better. The crowd clapped a bit louder for Marat so he was definetly the favourite.

To be honest I wasn't really watching the match after I had seen Marats awful hair. I was totally tranfixed on the new girlfriend. I was sitting very close to them and everyt ime Peter looked up at me I was staring. He thought I was staring at him but I wasn't of course. I think he thought I actually fancied him which was funny.

What can I say about the girlfriend she has long blond hair, petit. She wasn't flashy at all. Many blondes look like her. She must have been cold and was wearing Marat's Davis Cup Jacket. Peter and her seemed to get on well and he gave her his jacket to put around her legs. Most of the match she played with her hair. I tried to get even closer without being too obvious as I wanted to hear her accent as she didn't really look Spanish or Russian but who knows. I tried to take a photo of her but it was facing the sun and by that stage I think Peter thought I was stalking him!! The other guy left a lot of the time and there was just Peter and the girlfriend, by the way they acted I think her and Marat have been together a little while not just a tournamnet pick up. When Marat won the match her and Peter did a high five. Peter looked at me again as they both got up to go and catch up to Marat.

I guess we will see how serious this is if she is seen at the next few tournaments my picking is she will be. Once Marat finds someone they seem to stick like glue for a while but who knows. Maybe this is why he seems happier. I guess being 26 he is not going to be without a girl friend for long.
I took photos of Marat, but won't post them as they are ones you have seen all before, nothing new.

4. On the topic now. I have no idea whether this is Marat's girlfriend or she is just one of his numerous childhood friends from Valencia.

Noone knows but Marat and people close to him. If it is not - then I am so sorry for him because we're as always trying to make an elephant out of a fly.

If she is - I hope he is happy and having tons of fun ;D
