Well, they were, after all, playing the Bryans, weren't they?!
Anyway, I do hope he wins against Haas, even if most of us rather doubt that as it has been such a big fuss lately about Haas' great shape....whatever that means
I somehow got the impression that it was a pleasant week for him, so winning or losing wouldn't really matter, actually...
Anyway (and I'm sorry I can't help myself on that !!!) I wonder in what God damned forsaken wardrobe did he found AGAIN those dreadfull ARMY PANTS!!!!
they are awfull and he used to wear then some 7 years ago!!!!!!!!!! I thought / hoped he would of got rid of them by now...I mean, what is this?!
One of all those presumably numerous women in his life should really do something about the way he dresses in public!!
I mean, I really like this guy: great personality, smart, kindharted, lots of sex-appeal and whatever else you may possibly like in a man...in time, I even got to understand his bizarre collection of T-shirts...BUT GET THE HELL RID OF ALL THOSE TOYS HUNG AROUND YOUR NECK AND OF THOSE SINISTER ARMY PANTS AND DRESS YOUR AGE!!!
the only thoing he doesn't have around his neck is his car key!!!!
GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO. ;D There's worse things in life than wearing some dodgy outfits ... I know. I went through a period of dressing up in leather trousers, frilly pirate shirts, studded leather belts and a dodgy hat ... thought I looked gorgeous. LMAO. What a twat. I came out of it a better person. ;D I think. Compared to my outfits, a pair of army shorts ain't bad. Possibly haute couture if you ask me. How do we dress for 'our age'. I intend to dress disgracefully when I'm 80 ... and wear way too much make-up. Will probably look like an old lap-dancer. Couldn't possibly dress like that now ... can't wait. LMAO. I'd hate to think of any woman trying to change his wardrobe, or him. If he wanted to wear a dress in public, I'd let him. As long as it was a rather fetching little black number slashed to the thigh. LMAO. What an image. ;D We're individuals, what WE like, somebody else may not. The Big Bird outfit did unsettle me a bit though ... ;D Aunty Denise has sussed out the livestream for us. atdhe.net/index.htmlI will be setting my alarm for 4am. Big Yin, make it worth my while. And wear something fetching on court. See you at 4am GMT guys. Groan. FG

Well, Maryb, I had my long, curly hair SHAVED when I was 17 and kept it like that for quite a while! I don't know if it did me a better person, but it certainly was a thing to remember! And please note that I did it alone: I shaved my hair with my own hands... So I kinda understand little eccentricities in people, I find them endearing and I truly belive that it's not worth trying to change somebody, particularly the ones you love (I hope his girls love him) and especially on such shallow aspects like clothes. But with age I also come to think that it's pretentious to imagine that the clothes you wear, the books you read, the music you listen, etc. could ever make you unique, as it is only the character as a whole that ever really matters and as character does not necessarly show in the taste you might have in any of the above. On a more frivolous note, the long-haired woman I am today would kinda prefer a slightly dressed-up Marat. And I just tried to express it in a funny way ....I think it's a pity for such a delicious man not to make the best of his dashing looks. The only one who' s worts than him is the equally delicious Tursunov when he doesn't shave...he really looks like the f...g Count of Monte -Cristo after the escape!!!

LMAO. ;D Yes Masha, I will happily admit I was being shallow and obsessing about clothes being, in part, the essence of the man ... it's a Scottish thing we do with humour. We try irony ... and it usually bites us on the arse. You did express his dress sense ... or lack of ... in a funny way. ;D FG PS Tursunov, the artist formerly known as the Count of Monte Cristo. LMAO. Being frivolous again here, I can see him in a rather fetching frilly shirt and well-scrubbed up. Pity you joined the board so late. ;D PPS Re the match time, I meant 4am BST - 3.00am GMT.

Had your chances in that first set, Big Yin. As Mrs Annie says, good run though. Keep it up. Night night. Or morning morning ... FG

Good for Haas (buy, boy, is he annoying?!....somebody should of poissened him back then) I dunno what to say about Marat, just that I somehow got the impression that he was sad!!! PS: Dear Maryb, I'm sorry about joining the board so late too, but I didn't become a Marat Safin fan until this year (although I have noticed him since the beginning)...Anyway, thank you for finding my post funny (BTW, I absolutely adore yours, I guess I've read them all, must be the Scottish sense of humor that I relate to)... As for Marat's Big-Russian-Drama fashion sense...I'm just frustrated I'm not the one (hand)washing and ironing (another thing he seems to consider superfluous) his crazy T-shirts so never mind me! The tursunovian beard however is intolerable ...he's so breathtakingly handsome in real life...Mitya my love, if you can hear me, it's a sin to cover God's wonderful creation under that beard...when I first saw him like that I was like...WTF, did he join a sect or something?!

Had Marat taken the first set, this would've been a completely different story. But still, great to see him winning matches. ps. How does he know he is playing Cincy? A wild card has been granted to him already?

You would have thought that the Big Yin would have had the wit to slip Tommy a dodgy prawn, pre-match, wouldn't you? Carry on the great Russian tradition (allegedly ... ;D). Opportunity missed during practice obviously. My Big Pixie is too much of a gentleman for underhand methods, I guess. He could have asked one of us to do it ... ;D My Big Pixie's 'Big-Russian-drama' fashion sense is inspirational! Only he could get away with wearing a skulls/death/snakes/endless misery-evoking T-shirt looking like he'd spent the weekend wearing it in a tent in Tibet. There's hope for us all! As for the tursunovian beard, I've seen it close up at Wimbles. I think it is rather fetching, although as you say there's an element of flower-power about it. Maybe he's having a mid-life crisis. Perhaps he and my Big Pixie could head up a mountain together for some contemplation. I think he's hysterical ... he should take up writing full-time as a tennis correspondent. FG PS I'm sure if you gave the Big Yin your contact details, he'd be more than delighted to take up your kind offer of laundry services. So many jock-straps, so little time. A pleasure deferred, I'm sure.

Maryb, I’m afraid he is a real sportsman…he maybe thought: ”Why not make Tommy happy? I age better and I’m richer, I can afford being generous!” ;D Comrade Masha however strongly disagrees with such unheard of sportive ways… The Party wanted you to win, Marat!!!! On the other hand, I agree with you: his fashion sense is inspirational ( strictly if you live on a budget in Tibet)! But like all great achievement of mankind, it should be documented by an interdisciplinary team of specialists for the use of future generations! I hope some serious academic organization is envisaging the project! Now, speaking of the tursunovian beard…I guess it simply indicates Mitya’s seriousness as a Russian author, heir to the throne of Gogol-Nabokov-and-the-rest-of-the-lot! ( which he could pull off rather well BTW and I’m not joking). Plus, reading your post made me think that maybe I am making to big a fuss about it: after all, a few scratches never killed a girl!! Marat and Mitya could use contemplating a mountain together you say and I know exactly which mountain this could ne: it's called the Mound of Venus and I appologise for expressing such trivial thoughts of the board! As for accepting a position as an abigail his lordship's household...a girl has to do what a girl has to do (fondle included).

LMAO. Shocking, comrade Masha! I expect a more 'ladylike' post on this board! Mrs Annie would be perfectly within her rights to censor you. ;D Mound of Venus!?! Tut tut. Our boys would stick to those mounts covered in snow at high altitude ... Masha, let's not go there ... There are juveniles reading this who can be easily led astray ... LMAO. So, somebody slipped Tommy a dodgy prawn after all then ... What's next for the Big Yin? Cincy? FG

A bit off-topic since this is the LA thread, but as Cincy has already been mentioned .....
Says this somewhere on the Cincy webpages.
Players who did not gain direct acceptance and may have to qualify include Marat Safin and Carlos Moya, both of whom have been ranked No. 1 in the world, and Ernests Gulbis, a quarterfinalist here last year.
Maybe he IS going to do quallies - or maybe he's hoping for a WC. We shall have to wait and see I guess
