Well, that was fast. 44% first serve % will not win tournaments against juniors, let alone Juan Monaco. He obviously had an off day, as his serve is typically much better than that. 6-4, 6-1 final score.

Damn. Managed to get to a live score site ... just as the final score went up. Big Yin, we need a chat. Arm swinging and racquet smashing? Granted, it was a half-hearted smash of the racquet, not the usual full-blown fury. Those legs looked liked they could do with more stretching though. Get on the treadmill before the next tourney ... and Wimbles ain't that far away. I want the fitness worked on. In the gym, not with a blonde ... ;D I'm away on another garden shredding mission ... send out the huskies if I'm not back by midnight ... FG

Whats happened to all the positivity guys! Sarcastic Comment! I think Marat played as well as he couldve and ultimately came up against a better competitor who would fight! What pisses me off about Marat is that he takes the luxury of taking a WC from another player ( someone who may be looking for his break in the game, or returning from injury to build confidence etc etc) and shows up and decides not to bother trying. Obv we know why he gets WC is cos he attracts fans but still dissapoints me Of to Italyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!

2009 Barcelona Open BancoSabadell Tuesday’s Lesson Learned Quote: After it was obvious that Marat Safin was going to lose his match against Juan Mónaco, the Argentine serving at 6-4, 5-1, the Russian finally relaxed. The last game of the match seemed more like something from a charity exhibition, with Safin, Mónaco, and Chair Umpire Mohamed Lahyani trading jokes. When Mónaco lost the first point of the game and Lahyani laughed as he announced “Love-15,” Mónaco noted that Safin was “giving him a lesson.” Some Pracitse pictures with Younes El Ayanoui www.talkabouttennis.com/tatphotos/showgallery.php/cat/1209

I can understand an analysis on his play, that's something we can see, but how do you know he decided not to bother trying?

Fair enough i cant vouch for him not bothering - so to me it just states the case that a fully comitted Marat got battered by a player ranked 58. Obviously shows he doesnt have the game anymore to compete - which is why its painful to watch him play!

Ok, I see your point. I personally think things are never that black or white, but hey, that's just my experience p.s. and yeah, it can be painful sometimes.

I guess I empathise with the Big Yin ... it's hard to be perfect 24/7. ;D I have my bad days too as I get longer in the tooth ... thankfully, a lot of people ain't watching and commenting on my balls-ups.
