Just looked at this entry list for the first time and god damn there is no easy opening match for Marat.
Top 8 players i believe get a BYE!

This tournament used to be so nice to Marat - he has the infamous trophy dropping back in 2000 and a runner up aswell i believe but that was donkeys ago.
Sadly all i remember are losses to Acasuso and Bolleli! Not proud moments

No pressure, leave that for the newballs...

I believe Mugfiils and Tsonga have pulled out of the tournament!

For anyone interested - Juan Monaco (natural clay courter) has a 1-0 H2H lead over Marat - Bagelled Marat in Bercy rather pathetically last year.

Is a very good player - been high as 14 in ranking before injury, very good movement which Marat doesnt like and very solid at the baseline and will just get that extra ball back for Marat to miss.

Juan reached the Final in Argentina on Clay earlier and QF in Vina Del Mar, aswell as beating Robredo in Monte Carlo so is playing wellish. Lets hope he doesnt take Marat seriously then we may have a chance!
