ESPN Interview Highlights: *neck problem, whatever was bothering him, is better *probably playing Federer ... showed highlights from '05 *what did he remember from that match ... best time for him ... than he had his injury troubles while Fed was taking over the world *watched some of Fed-Korolev ... gave compliments to Korolev and his potential *how do you beat Fed? - You have to be Rafa, or you have no shot (LOL) *will play his best, but it's Federer - he makes it look so easy, simple .... but better to play him here than on grass *what are you going to do after tennis? - got a "couple of projects, I'm not going to lie" ... but will take some time to rest first - fine, that's a couple of months, what about after that? - has things in the works - What? - It's a secret (LOL) ... He's keeping it to himself, but he did say it's in sports somehow - We'll see (all this said while keeping his eyes on Fed's match) *fishing, mountain climbing? -- sure why not, after tennis 24/7/365 for many years, be nice to do such things with friends *Is Dinara going to win AO? - If you can arrange that, I won't say no *best wishes ... Friday should be fun ;D

thanks for all the articles, interview and hot hot pics well i decided to stay up and watch the match, which i am really happy i did (especially since this could be his last AO) and i have to say, he looks soo much better on court, a lot more solid. and his serve was fab! in the first set, GGL impressed me, was not expecting him to play like that, but I am glad Marat coped and managed to win. And he hasnt lost a set so far!! yay!!! Fedex up next, lets try and derail him and cause an upset!!

I watched too. He played pretty well but the other guy really helped him. Anyway, after the match I continued to watch the court a little to see if they might show him signing or something and from time to time the whole audience would erupt into "Safin Safin Safin" and bang on the bleachers etc.. I guess he was still trying to get off the court. It was really cute. Anyone else think he looked like he had gained weight? Not moving around that fast either.. Anyway, here's hoping for some serious magic aaginst Fed!

I think he was moving faster than the previous year and he actually look fitter to me! I liked when the crowd said somthg like "we say Safin her for the win!" or smthg like that! it was cute cheering!

portion of Fed's interview:
Q. Is playing Marat still a very exciting prospect? ROGER FEDERER: Absolutely. It's going to be a nice match for sure. We have a history. We have played a few times. We've played in Majors before and played some good matches before. Played in Davis Cup before. So yeah, we go way back. Him, of course, being a former No. 1, same for me, former Grand Slam champion, it's an intriguing matchup. Back when he was really at his very best -- we had different personalities growing up. I sort of chilled out and he kept on going. It was just always, I thought, a good matchup. So I was actually happy. I think it was last year at Wimbledon I played him. We had a good match there. Yeah, I expect it to be tougher here on the hard courts, which should suit his game more.
Q. Do you have a preference whether it's a day or night match? ROGER FEDERER: Not really. You know, I don't think the guys are going to have a problem with the heat. I think he has a great five-set record. He's tough and never has any really physical problems. I have no preferences.

Yes, the cheering was so cute for Marat. And there was the occasional girl screaming "Marat, we love you"! I wonder how much of that he can actually hear. Also, I really loved how he was trying not to smile too big at the end but you could see his cute dimples! Such an adorable man!!!!

Jings, sharp intake of breath ... my Big Pixie has my wings! Not only that, he's stolen my hair! Were we perhaps separated at birth? I need to lie down. I think the lack of sleep has made me start to hallucinate! FG

Got a nap in, so I can catch some of the night session (LOL) -- James playing, as well as Ljubicic-Tsonga (Marathon Alert: Tsonga up 2 sets to 1 after 3 TB sets!) and Gulbis-Andreev, with Andy Murray to come Jenhatter - Is there somewhere we can watch the full ESPN interviews? I looked at their site but only got a small portion. Thanks! Unless more of it shows up on ESPN.com or Youtube, I've got no idea -- weird that ESPN just put up a 30-sec clip. *shrug* Maybe it’s just me, but I CAN’T GET USED to Rafa wearing „real“ T-shirts, with sleeves (!!!) and regular shorts. Nope, not just you, it's weird ;D ... It makes him look like a normal 22-year-old guy, not some superhuman tennis machine (until he starts playing ). Same way with Fed's hair cut and Andy R's lost weight, still weird when I see them, but Rafa's outfit beat it all I think. AO time makes my sleeping all out of whack, snoozing sporatically here and there ... not quite sure how I've been making it through the day time ... probably gonna hit a wall soon, just hope it's after tomorrow night/morning ... And, oh boy, is tomorrow filled with potential - should be some mega fun ;D
