[ If you watched AO 05 epic semis against Roger and the final vs Lleyton, did you notice he never looked too excited after a super big win. ;D hehe, you are right justsafin, I was there live.... there was no sign that Marat jump around or scream, even at the post-winning parade in Melbourne, He didn;t really talk about the excitment at all and I can not really sense any element that he is over joyed or so. In fact, he was joking around at his final speech when he beat Llyeton Hewitt, the crowd was laughing and he was so entertaining. He gave credit to Hewitt and his team and thanks his team, that's all. I remember a dude sitting next to me asking me " has marat won too many trophies that he has no feeling of it? Its a GS"... and I said to him "look, its Marat. nobody else, he is unique that's why we love him, he's so cool".... That moment tattooed into my memory. [ Being Marat's fan is not easy. Exactly...oh yeah...that's why i get my heart checked regularly LOL ;D my friends said I am very calm now, oh yeah after over 10 years watching Marat plays tennis, nothing is shocking anymore... I love the unperdictable part of Marat, it makes him more interesting! Congrets for the victory, Marat! A win is a win, i don't care how u win it lol.... Good luck for your doubles and the next round! I am sure the ladies (from TGFR) will bring u heaps of good luck! Davai!

this is driving me crazy: what do you guys mean when you always say he used to tank matches? Dina, I didn't say he "used to " tank matches. He was fined for tanking a match before US Open 2000, even though he said he did not. He mentioned that in David Latterman's interview after he won. He was also "accused of" tanking the match against Tursunov in Cincy 2008 by some people. About that match, I already wrote what I thought in the fan report. Hope it clarifies any confusion I have caused you. sorry used the wrong word, I actually meant to ask about the word 'tanking' lol! I'm not sure I got its real meaning....

How I wish I had been there to watch the most memorable matches and cool MARAT addressing his unique funny speech. I envy you so much!! ;D DAVAI MARAT! I am picturing that "moment" all the time. Hope in this tourney, it will become true. WELL, we never know nor does he.

sorry used the wrong word, I actually meant to ask about the word 'tanking' lol! I'm not sure I got its real meaning.... "Tanking a match" can mean different things: 1. Losing a match on purpose because the player doesn't feel like playing, or is in a shit mood, or feels treated unjustly by the umpire, or thinks he'll lose anyways so it's not worth the effort anymore. If that kind of behavior is/seems obvious to the umpire the player can be fined, but fines don't happen very often. Marat has tanked matches in the past (I don't know about subsequent fines, though), but he definitely didn't "tank" the match yesterday. Well, a lot of players have reacted that way during their careers I guess. It's human to be frustrated, and the whole issue should be handled with care. Hence fines are extremely rare. There are also examples for a wrong interpretation of the tanking rule. Davydenko was fined in St. Petersburg last year after he served double faults continuously and the umpire decided he did it on purpose (which was untrue and led Kolya to cry on court in frustration). 2. Losing a match after looking like the sure winner. E.g. if a player serves for the match at 6:0 5:1 and still ends up losing, people often say he "tanked" the match. Hope it became clear. THNAK YOU for that precised explanation! I thought I understood it but I like to be sure of things! Certainty is my motto!
