Great Carlos, loved how he kept his cool I wish stupid eurosport had chosen to show his match against Gulbis instead of Chela vs Wawrinka... from the few points I saw it seemed much more entertaining I have a headache... from listening to the STUPID TV COMENTATOR!!! The man does not shut up ever and talks rubbish all the time. He actually drools so much over some players and says so much crap I can't help cheering immediately for the other guy And he is a Novak fanboy... it's gonna be hard cheering for Nole with that guy dispensing completely useless info and nonsensical exclamations at every shot. I now know Gulbis' dad owns a gas pipeline, that he is a millionaire, that his mom is an actress,... that the Maroon5 lead singer said Sharapova doesn't moan as much outside of the courts... that James Blake's has escoliosis (sorry for spelling), that he wore a corrective vest as a child... that Marion Bartoli is a fan of Pierce Brosnan and he sent her flowers after her SF win at Wimby... blah, blah, blah! Who cares?!?!?! Sorry, had to rant a bit. Either that or take the sound off the TV!

You are so lucky ;D Little Gulbis reminds me of a Mini-Marat - amazing talent but a nutcase at the same time. The amount of unforced errors during the match was ridiculous (especially after he punished Robredo with a flawless performance in the third round). It will be interesting to see whether he can get his act together and break through or not. I'm off to cheer for Djokovic now. I guess I should watch tennis in Portugal, Alex

It was a great and very entertaining match to watch, but it really wasn't the Nole - Stephanek quality of a complete thriller 5 setter .... Think that nothing this year will top THAT match very true ... but there definitely has been no shortage of memorable, entertaining matches, especially the 5-setters .... been so fun to watch (and the nonstop beautiful weather has definitely helped) CARLOS IN THE QF !!!!! Carlos def. Gulbis : 75 62 67 64 ;D ;D ;D Good luck for your next match against Novak or Monaco!!!!!! YAAAYY!!! Go Carlos! .... and just tuning into Novak's match, end of the 3rd set -- man, what a TB that was! .... and the match plays on with Monaco squeaking it out ...... it's gonna be another long night

Nole vs Monaco is being a great match so far. Amazing 3rd set!!! ;D And no shortage of drama in there as well, specially with that ball creeping out of Monaco's shorts in the TB. Adidas really needs to make deeper pockets, Wawrinka earlier also saw a ball drop off during play. Nole looks more tired now than Juan... hope it's just looks and not really any physicall problem

and fitting to have another lengthy, tight match to end a very long day (at 2 am) --- Ferrer d Nadal 67 64 76 62 and I'm really not all that surprised, truthfully, as much as I love Rafa -- credit to Rafa's fight, cause he fought until the very end, but he was hampered by his knees (and showed visible pain in the second to the last game - which is very very rare with him) -- hopefully Rafa won't have long-term problems with his knees, and hope that having played this tourney won't hurt it very much in the long-run .... just running running running Ferrer did .... and man, they both hit the ball hard every point beginning to end, both giving it their all (small) woot for Ferrer .... hope Rafa gets back to 100% soon

Nadal out - no big surprise, I'd agree with Jen. He was not 100% from the start and I never understood why so many people picked him as a favorite for the title here. He can get some rest now and start fresh in the indoor season. Chela played horrible, horrible tennis yesterday - his match against Wawrinka was one of the worst I've ever seen, LOL! So Ferrer should have no problem of even reaching the Semis - great job for the former clay court specialist! As for Novak - he was tired yesterday and didn't play his best tennis but he was still able to beat Monaco who pushed himself to the limit. I always admire Nole's willpower - no matter how bad a match goes for him, somehow he can motivate himself and prevail in the end. A real champion! And still my favorite for the title in New York... Today's schedule is kinda "boring". Davydenko and Federer are going to win, so there's no excitement really. Plus, being a working woman will keep me from watching A-Rod's attempt to beat R-Fed ;D Those stupid night sessions... I wish everybody who'll be watching a lot of fun

And still my favorite for the title in New York... if he didn't have this willpower, he'd be out of top 10 for sure....i do like him a lot because he's a character and at the same time so mature and solid for his age, but i am not a big fan of his tennis (maybe i do not know enough to appreciate it). Also, being young helps the motivation issue: everything is still rather new, you still have goals to achieve and things to prove...
