First grass court tournament of the small season - this year Marat has decided to head to England in prepapartion for Wimbledon by popping to Queens instead of Halle.
I think he's played here twice and reached a QF & R16 in 2000 and 01 respectively.

Hopefully this will bring him more cheer than the european clay courts have been to him this year!

Hey everyone, I'm new here.
My name is Cate.
I'm a mod on the official site and fansite of Andy Murray, but I am also a huge Marat fan....and you may notice from my username, also a huge Rafael Nadal fan!
I'm heading to the Stella Artois Championships at Queen's club in London and then Wimbledon in the next month!! I can't wait!

I genuinely think that Marat's loss to Tipsarevic was not completely devastating. Tipsarevic is a dangerous player, I can remember when he beat Andy in the opening round of Queen's last year. His ranking doesn't do him any justice.
Also, Marat would have had to take on Robredo in R3. A difficult challenge for the best of them.

It's time for him to move on and really train hard for the short grass season. He should get a great reception in London, we all love a pretty face and a perilous backhand! There is no way Marat should retire, his intensity and power on court is a treachery to the man standing on the other side of the net.

If he gets a good draw at Wimbledon, he has a chance of going into the second week, as there are few grass-court players around - (and two of them will only be returning from injuries if lucky - Murray and Ancic).

Is anyone else going to these tournaments?

Queens is held at a place called Kensington Like Wimbledon the standard of living in that area is really high and full of big houses and even has a lovely shopping area.

it's not that far from Wimbledon at all a coupld hops on the tube and it's easily locatable!

With Ancic out Marat only needs 1 more player to withdraw and according to tournament officials Andy Murray will most likely withdraw so - Marat should have a bye!

Atleast no 1st round knock out !

Andy is almost certainly withdrawing from Queens, guys. His wrist is still looking bad and no hope for the cast support being removed yet. Looks likt Marat has got a lucky break with a bye.

On the other hand, if on the slight-chance that Murray does play, his fitness will probably not be up to scratch. If Marat is in his part of the draw, then he has a great chance. Let's hope Tipsarevic is not in Marat's part of the draw, it could knock his confidence.

Verdasco and Bjorkman are going to be dangerous on grass this year. But Marat doesn't really have a lot to lose, just get past the 1st round (which is handed to him with a bye). Dima on the otherhand will drop down the rankings if he doesn't get his game together and Charly Moya will be ahead of Marat at the start of next week.

As there are few particularly great players on grass, it's a chance for Marat to pull it out and gain some much needed points!!

can't wait for Queens ... taking a closer look at the entry list, practically all of the favorite players are playing there!

(although that makes it for unfortunate situations as some will play against each other and one has to lose )

Safin Joins Elite Field as Artois Entry List Revealed

Former World No.1 and two-time Grand Slam title winner Marat Safin has joined the list of star names set to contest the 2007 Artois Championships at the Queen's Club in London.
Safin, who won the US Open in 2000 and the Australian Open two years ago, joins World No.2 Rafael Nadal, three-time winner Andy Roddick, defending champion Lleyton Hewitt and British No.1 Andy Murray.
"We are delighted to add Marat to an already strong field," said Tournament Director, Ian Wight.
Marat is presently practicing and preparing for The ArtoisChampionships, London to be played from June 11 - 17, 2007.
Miguel, Marat's fitness coach from Spain will be joining him for the event.

I know Sandra ;D!!! I prayed for the last 2 years that he was playing there, but he was always on Halle so I couldn't see him! Now I can:) as he is a former 1.one he will be on Centre Court which means on tv!
