from official website www.maratsafin.com/As you all know Marat Safin is in Chile. We managed to chat with him after his training and he agreed to answer some of our questions. Q. How are you? Marat. Great, thanks Q. how do you feel in Chile? Marat. the place is very nice. I am starting to adjust to the time difference and the clay courts. Q. Last time you played on clay it was in September in Moscow against the U.S in the Davis cup. Do you feel you have enough time to adjust to the clay courts this time? Marat. The Davis cup was indoor clay which is very different from the courts here. I didnt play outdoor clay since Roland Garros last year and I hope to be in good shape on Friday because it is a very tough match. Q. What do you think are Russias chances in this tournament? Marat. It is hard to say. Chile is one o the strongest teams in the world, especially on clay courts and at home. We came without two of our leading players so it is a great chance for the young players to prove they can represent our country with great honor. Q. What do you feel about the fact that only two month ago you won the Davis cup and already you have to defend it? Marat. I really think it is too soon. They dont let you enjoy the victory for too long. But we will do our best to defend our title. Q. For the first time you are not playing in Europe but in the United States (Las Vegas and San Jose). Why did you choose to do so? Marat. After many years of playing in Europe I decided to change my schedule. I am very exited to play these two new events and hopefully this will help me play better in the super 9 in Indian Wales and Miami. We wish you all the best in the American tour and in the Davis cup Marat. Many thanks to all my fans out there.
