Good to see he's looking ahead to the next tournament. From Guardian online: "I don't care," he said. "I am playing well, I am still 26 in the rankings. "With one good result I will be top 20, but I don't really care about the rankings any more. I just need to stay focused on my tennis." is this safin trying not to show how upset he really is with this loss?? it should have been a relatively easy win......and if he wants to get in the top 20 and stay there, then these first round matches should be a walk in the park!!!!! why is he being so complacent with these losses?

I don't know if he's using reverse psychology on himself or what. But he can't say that he played well but lost to a player ranked in the hundreds. ...and he doesn't care ?? WTF Is he out of touch with reality? He is aware that he hasn't won a tournament since Jan2005, right?? and has been playing inconsistently to the extreme. Just tired of always looking forward to the next tourny. I think I need a win more than Marat My heart can't take much more

well, maybe he just didn't like the way the question was asked and answered on the defensive, in a "no, i'm not utterly devastated, it's just a match, not the end of life" kind of way... i dunno... it's just one answer, one day, for a situation, as you say, which has been going on for some time now...

It’s sad he lost, but you can’t do anything about it. He has to find his game back. He doesn’t have many points to defend this clay season. So this is good opportunity to rise in the rankings.
