Friday's Morning Line February 16, 2007 By Joel Drucker
Mardy Fish vs. Ivo Karlovic Did we say the man was tall? Ivo serves it from a crane, a rocket-like delivery that caused nightmares for Blake and earned him a nifty, slashing win. Fish’s forehand is the key to his improvement, aided by legendary craftsman Todd Martin. Fish can also pinpoint his serve, and usually bring more heat from that stroke than his buddy James. I’d like to see Karlovic come forward more and abandon the pretense of rallying. But he won’t. Click the fast-forward button to the late-set shootout. Fish’s got a few more bullets in his pistol. Fish in two tight ones.
Benjamin Becker vs. Marat Safin
Step and say hello with rapid-fire first-strike tennis. Figure on 25 total aces, and quite a few ripped down-the-line backhands. In this case, experience favors Safin. Safin.
Vince Spadea vs. Andy Roddick
The name’s Spadea/he ain’t afraidaya. He’s a tennis Rocky Balboa, the Italian stallion with the glittering backhand, up against the flame-throwing fastballer on a slick indoor court. Vince knows how to play Roddick, has beaten him before, and if he can sink his teeth into rallies, can pose his share of questions. But Roddick’s got a new set of answers. He’s not the passive man he once was, has learned to jump on opponents and, per Jimmy Connors, is attempting to smother them with footwork and opportunism. Some engaging rallies, but Roddick in two.
Andy Murray vs. Hyung-Taik Lee
More engaging than you might think, particularly given Lee’s slick backhand. Will Murray pounce or probe? Certainly Lee can make a go at it, but about 30 minutes in Murray should start feeling comfortable. Many fine rallies, but give the edge to Murray in two.

Why the hell I've been convinced all day that Marat won easily against Becker? I remember reading it was a 3setter(so where the hell "easily" came from ),I also remember reading he's to face Becker next... Must have been dreaming or something
