Yay, Marat! I got home just in time to see him break and serve for the match. Can anyone give me a quick summary on what happened, especially the second set?

From a purely tennis point of view it was not his best match but MENTALLY he was on top form. There were a million times he could have given up, especially in the second and third sets but he didn't. He stuck with it. He lost the second set 6/3 after winning the first in a tie break. In the second set he was broke at 1-1 to Tarpisaravic was 3-1 up fairly quickly. Marat came back and broke. Got himself back to 3-3 and then lost it. He had a really bad service game. Got broke again. Tarsarovic went up 5-3 and by that time Marat looked like he had no clue what he was doing anymore. Credit to the other guy, he played some amazing points, but Marat was a bit dazed, to borrow an expression cyn used. The beginning of the third he was still a bit hungover. He lost serve, was down 2-0 but broke back. Then there was this long long game at 3-3 with Tipsarovic serving, which Marat lost, despite having a million break points. He held serve and then broke. Then he closed it out like a champ. I am VERY proud of him tonight. ;D ;D Well done Maratik btw..if i have screwed up any details of how the match went. It's becasue my brain is now so fried that i don't remember much of anything

Looking at the OOP, there are six Russian men and women playing their respective semifinals in the singles, and one Russian doubles team in both the men's and ladies' fields. What a way to represent the home tournament...I'm sure the crowd is thrilled.

Cool to see that Getty finally made it to Moscow ;D Believe me guys (and girls), the only reason Marat won is because Lena coached him during the match! We watched together and while I wasn't able to stand the tension and had to drink lots of wine to keep at least relatively calm, her optimism never waned. Lena, you're a true believer! Igor Kunitsyn is beatable! Come on Marat, you can make it to the finals!!!!!
