Come on guys, Roger is an absolute genius. I am in awe of the guy's talent and delighted to be around in his generation to see the Maestro make it all look so effortless. Granted, if I was one of the guys on the tour, I'd be pissed off if he was in my half of the draw. What do you do other than pray that either he is having a bad hair day and can't concentrate (come on, guys MUST get these too) ... or he's got a gammy knee? (He can't plead PMT and mood swings on any of the tournaments ...) He's wonderful to watch as he's so graceful and the shots he can set up ... well ... appreciate him. If you love tennis, you MUST love Rog. He's setting a standard that the guys need to aspire to. And also bear in mind that Marat is one of the select few that has beaten him, and HOW he beat him. What a match. Marat should keep that match in mind if he needs to be reminded (which he shouldn't be) of what a talented player he is too. ;D Interesting that Marat was completely focused when he beat Roger. None of the arm-swinging nonsense and perpetual angst. The boy has talent and he needs to make the most of it while he still has time. Wouldn't like him to be treated like one of my old childhood heros, Nastase, as a talent wasted. I'd like to think that Marat came away from the US Open with a spring in his wee step ... and looking forward to the next 12 months. PS Thanks to Annie for putting my Wimbles pic online. I must be getting old. I DIDN'T notice Marat's red CK's! Good grief. I think I'll take up knitting. Or get my eyes tested.

Everyone deals with joy and sorrow in their own way according to one's personality. If he wants to fall on the ground - he falls on the ground and if he wants to weep his eyes out - let it be.. they boy has at the end of the day won 9 GS titles by the age of 25..hell he can do whatever he wants!!!! ;D Amen to that! (and incredibly..., I was rooting for Andy... I think that for the first time in my life LMAO!) If Roger oiverreacted what can be said of Gaudio when he won RG?!! BTW, don´t you hate the USO trophy ceremony? I like it when players give a speech instead of being interviewed The funniest and most adorable reactions appear when they are alone in front of the microphone

Congrats Roger ........... victory deserved !! But he's overreacting after the last ball ! Marat let himself never fell on the ground after a victory ! Keep it simply !!! I can't believe I'm saying this but I totally agree with marats. Roger's little "jump/fall" was ridiculous and humiliating for him.

lol I wouldn't say rediculous or humiliating. But it did look like he injured his knee with the way he fell.

so the women's finals i boycotted simply because those 2 were the last people i wanted to see. i wont go any further for the men - i am gutted andy didnt win, but i saw the highlights and he did do a good job (except the last set) so WELL DONE ANDY FOR A GREAT RUN!! good to see him back!! as for roger, i agree with marats and nat - it was a bit OTT the way he collapsed on the floor. i know this has been discussed, the whole everyone has a right to celebrate in their own way, but still it was too much. andy was sweet how he came straight to roger instead of waiting at the net.

andy was sweet how he came straight to roger instead of waiting at the net. Yeah that was a classy move. I love roger to death, but I would find it entertaining if he did injure himself whilst celebrating.

I cannot believe this discussion and I honestly cannot believe anyone would wish an injury upon a player...I mean come on!!! Every single player on the tour is in exactly same conditions. The play the same tournaments, they have coaches, hitting partners, counrts, equipment, etc. Some people do better, so people do worse, that's what this sport is about. Seeing Roger win all the time is boring...you have no idea how tired I am of hearing this over and over and over again. I say...WHO THE HELL DOESN'T LET THE OTHERS BEAT HIM? He cannot be hated, disliked or anything just because he is talented, he works his ass off and wins almost every single tournament he enters. Yes, there is Rafa now who is also a competition for him and a strong one, especially considering their head to head record. But then look at the amount of points after Rafa... the gap between Federer, Nadal and other players is humongous!!! These two people dominate modern tennis and that is the way it is. Yes we are all excited and happy when someone gets out there and puts up a great fight against them, let alone when someone beats them, but we all have to admit nobody in modern tennis can compete with these two on their level of physical and technical game as well as their mental stability. I adore Marat to bits and I think at his best he can kick their asses, which we witnessed at AO 05, but right now he is still not all there despite an amazing performance at USO. So I seriously cannot understand all that anger and boredom towards Federer... his game is magnificent, the way he moves on court, the shots he comes up with and the tactical decisions he makes are textbook material and I think we should all be really proud to be able to witness a tennis legend who is also a legend of our times. Who knows when the next time someone like that appears on the scene will be... Cherish it... As for his reaction after the final. Just stop and think for one little moment how much pressure the guy has on him every time he enters a tournament. Every single person on tour is either shit scared of him or super agressive and determined to kick his ass and become a new sensation. Players go ecstatic when they beat him (not Marat - simply because it's not in his character to dance while someone else is grieving) because for most people this is like winning a tournament. So Roger gets out there with every single pair of eyes asking "Is he gonna pull it off this year again?" It is very hard to play knowing you can beat anyone, it's very easy to lose concentration, to get bored at the end of the day... Roddick put up a great fight during the second and third set, I immensely enjoyed watching that match, but the pressure was there. You could see Roger being nervous because it one point he was being pushed so hard, it wasn't absolutely sure who'd come out the winner of this. And once that pressure lifts off - you are just over the moon. Every single tournament no matter how many you've already won is a totally new experience for you and especially when there is a hard final.... Plus to that he became the only player in history who managed to win Wimby and USO for three consecutive years and making history can also be pretty overwhelming. Just a few years ago he was a neurotic but very talented kid whom everyone spoke about as someone who is wasting his enormous talent on screaming, breaking rackets and getting frustrated (rings a bell, doesn't it? ) and to achieve what he has until now must have taken a hell of a lot of work and stubborness and I truly admire him for it. He reminds me of Sampras so much...and Sampras till today is my tennis' number 1 Sorry for the rant but it kinda shook me to see so much negativity towards such a talent OK, rant over and so is USO, so let's keep moving ;D

Good morning admin, you'll get the "Defender of Roger" award, no doubt ;D On a more serious note: Of course you are right, he's a horrific talent. Whenever I watch him I wonder at the ease with which he delivers shots from the most impossible angles, or runs down apparent winners, or plays the most wonderful volleys. It looks so easy, why don't they all play that way (clearly a rhetoric question )? Still: Any kind of sport loses its excitement when dominated by one player (Rafa isn't on the same level yet, Marat might or might not get there again), so it's understandable if people wish for king Roger to lose - at least every once in a while. Don't you prefer watching a match without already knowing the outcome? Plus: Roger is just sooooo boring . Can't we have a more exciting, sexy and mysterious champ? But that's just a very, very personal opinion and has nothing to do with his game...
