it's supposed to rain ALL DAY saturday. and at night too, so it's not looking like this match is gonna happen (or any of the others either). but sunday only has a small chance of rain, and monday is supposed to be bright and sunny but they're gonna be really backed up with matches.

Fortunately for me, he is playing against an Argentine player... ;D Yeah, I'm worry about that too. I mean, I know ESPN would broadcast the match on Friday but I'm not sure if the channel will do it on Saturday or they choose Andre's instead. And the thing is that I wish I could watch both!!!!

AHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!! * runs around pulling her hair out* this has got to be a conspiracy I swear to god....for once when i thought there was no possible way for eurosport to pull one over on me and deprive me of marat what happens?? it rains...i hate the world right now.
Granted, the most important thing is for Marat to win so no matter what if he wins everything will be alright but damn...
And who's genius idea was it to make his match at the same time as Agassi's? What's worse is i think gasquet will be playing about the same time and eurosport in france are stupid enough to show gasquet live, then playback agassi delayed and ignore Marat altogether...is there no justice in this world?? No rest for the weary?
I stayed up till 5 am hoping against hope that the rain would stop and did you know blasted eurosport did not have the courtesty to say that the matches were cancelled? Instead of that I had to get up, go down the street and check it on the internet...
It's not fair!! * breaks down in tears and starts sobbing*
Marat so help me...you better win this match or else i will do something drastic. *shakes head* the things we do for this man.... I know i am ranting but i am in a shitty mood to paraphrase Annie. Plus after only 3 hrs of sleep i have a 10am appointment.

It's not possible.... They KNOW it will rain today, and they put Marat's match THIRD !!!! They can't be so stupid !!!!! I bet the match won't be played, so Marat vs Nalbi, 2nd round match, will be played on SUNDAY, seventh day of the tourney. I can't believe these guys (the organisers).
And if they're able to play, I think Marat's match will be a bit earlier than Agassi's, because he has two women's match before his, whereas Agassi plays after Roddick. And Gasquet has 3 matchs before his. So you'll certainly be able to watch one set or two, that is, if it doesn't rain...

Ok Marat is 3rd on Armstrong today. 2nd match is Davenport/Srebotnik not before 1pm (this was also cancelled from last night!) But as Alexandra reported this rain is the end of Hurricane now tropical storm Ernesto so matches could be rain delayed. If it stays dry and all the matches start on time - Marat could play about 14.30 hours local time in New York allowing that Davenport won't need longer than 1 1/2 hours to play her match! That means approx 19.30 hours BST. But this is very approximate - they could start late if the rain delays start of the day's play but at least being 3rd on court Marat has a chance of playing. The others later could lose out. So unfortunately expect another frustrating day. Its raining here as well so know the feeling Marat!! webby

Pre Match AnalysisDay 5 - David Nalbandian (ARG) [4] vs. Marat Safin (RUS) VS Head to HeadNalnbandiaNalbandian has managed only one victory against Safin in his career, but it came during a Grand Slam event. Nalbandian defeated Safin in four sets in the Round of 16 at the French Open in 2004. His only other Grand Slam encounter with Safin also took place at Roland Garros, losing to the Russian in the 2002 third round. SafinSafin leads the all-time series against Nalbandian, 5-1, capturing the first four meetings and also the most recent head-to-head matchup, which took place in the first round at Madrid in 2004. Safin went on to win that tournament. The Madrid battle featured their only previous face-off on hard court Will win if...NalnbandiaFrustrating Safin out of the gate is crucial, as any bit of success the Moscow native can take from the opening moments of the match will only cause his confidence to grow. A long match might have been manageable against his first round opponent, but that’s dangerous territory versus a Grand Slam veteran like Safin. Nalbandian needs to shake things up to keep the 6-foot-4 Safin off balance, and that means a healthy mix of power and finesse – a technique that has helped Nalbandian succeed in the past. SafinSafin needs to bust out his big serve and attack the net from the outset to put Nalbandian back on his heels. Rediscovering his form as a fierce hard court competitor would also make him a threat. Along with capturing the US Open back in 2000, Safin won the 2005 Australian Open and made two other final appearances (2002, ’04) in that Grand Slam event. This year, however, Safin has been just 18-16 on the surface as he continues to recover from a knee injury. Heading inb] Nalnbandia[/b] Nalbandian, the fourth-seed in the men's draw, is coming off a scare in the first round. The Argentine dropped the first two sets to the unheralded Michael Berrer of Germany, with the second set resulting in a deflating tiebreak loss. But Nalbandian regrouped and reeled off three straight set wins to survive, 4-6, 6-7 (2), 6-3, 7-5, 6-2, and advance to the second round for the fourth straight year. SafinSafin posted his first US Open victory in four years by disposing of the Czech Republic’s Robin Vik in the opening round. Unseeded this year, Safin missed last year’s event in Flushing with a knee injury, but took the first two sets rather easily before coasting to a 6-1, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win. Safin committed 34 unforced errors in the match, but posted 49 winners and fired 15 aces. Look out forNalnbandiaNalbandian has been dealing with a left-side abdominal injury and it may have affected him in his first-round wake-up call. The ailment forced him to retire from his semifinal match with Roger Federer at May’s French Open and led to three sub-par showings in tournaments prior to the US Open: He was ousted in the third round at Wimbledon, the first round in Toronto and the second round in Cincinnati SafinAlthough Safin owns an all-time record of 18-5 in this event, his recent activity in the US Open has been sparse thanks to various injuries. His first round win marked just his fourth match in Flushing in the past five years and gave him his first second round appearance since 2002. On top of that, he hasn’t reached the third round since 2001. Know this startNalnbandiaWhile Safin’s success on hard court has been well documented, Nalbandian isn’t too shabby either. Despite a summer of struggles, Nalbandian has posted a 33-12 record in hard court play this year and reached the semifinals of the Australian Open before losing to Marcos Baghdatis. Nalbandian also possesses three career wins over current world No. 1 Roger Federer on the surface, including one at the 2003 US Open. SafinSafin’s opening-round victory over Vik snapped a three-match losing streak dating back to July. His last win had occurred in quarterfinals in Washington, D.C. when he defeated Wesley Moodie. After losing in the semifinals in D.C., the Russian bowed out in the first round in Toronto and Cincinnati. x-factorNalnbandiaThe No. 4-ranked player in the world has developed a flair for the dramatic of late to become one of the ATP Tour’s toughest outs. His 0-2 comeback against Berrer marked the fourth such rally of his career. More impressively, all four comebacks have been accomplished in his five most recent five-set wins, and three have come in Grand Slam events. The lesson is to never count Nalbandian out. SafinSafin comes into this match as the underdog because of his current world ranking of 104, but tennis fans and Nalbandian are well aware of Safin’s strong resume. The former world No. 1 has 15 career titles, which are 10 better than Nalbandian’s number, and he also owns a 2-0 edge in major tournament titles. The idea that the 26-year-old Safin is still capable of going deep in a major as long as he is healthy will definitely be in the back of Nalbandian’s mind.
