This cant be the finalised Line up is it Annie???surely he cant drop Igor Andreev Russian no 2. He should take all 5 and see where we get cause no1 knows what mood Marat is gonna be in. But i would presume he will play singles on the opening day I dont think it's fair aswell that Marat is leading the team when he currently Russian no5, Koyla has worked his arse off the last year and so he should be rewarded I in thinking would expect Misha to be included because of his doubles experience. Aswell as Mitya as i dont think they can rely on Marat for 2 Singles and a doubles match in 1 weekend
I can see why this is controversial Annie

hmmmm not too sure about this Don't get me wrong, its reads a great team but how come igor isn't on it? r u sure this is the final line up because i am pretty sure that somewhere Shamil said that he was gonna take all 5 guys and see wat happens. i have to agree with safinno1 here, i can see how this is controversial!

Aswell as Mitya as i dont think they can rely on Marat for 2 Singles and a doubles match in 1 weekend I can see why this is controversial Annie Thank you for summarising and putting into words the emotional storm I had inside me last night when I saw this. IT IS a final lineup..at least as highwoodchica mentioned, it's on the DC site Now that I have slept on it and discussed this with a very competent friend this morning LOL, here are my thoughts. Even though, I must say I am not thrilled with this lineup AT ALL and I truly hope Tarpi knows what he is doing. On the other hand, he has been captain for 600 years and won DC Cup and Fed Cup twice!!! And even though he talks loads of BS in the wrong time at the wrong places, we can't not admit that he is a wise man when it comes to picking teams and drawing up strategies. I feel very sorry that Kolya is number 2 with all due respect, love and adoration for Marat because as Ily very rightly pointed out Kolya worked his arse off in the past year to be where he is right now. HOWEVER, as my friend very rightly pointed out noone has leadership skills like Marat right now on the team. With his charisma and inner strength, this might not have been such a bad thought after all. HOWEVER, I do not disregard the fact that Tarpi will let him play on Friday and see how it goes and maybe change him for Igor on Sunday You never know... Re: Igor. I am totally lost here. He is great in doubles: he can play with Kolya, Misha, Mitya and they do well and we saw them do well. So this is one part of the lineup I am kinda lost about. But maybe there's something we just don't know. Maybe Igor is not feeling well or something else happened..don't know... Anyway, this will be different from any other tie against France coz this is indoor carpet, in Pau and the French team in a bit tricky, too. One day they play incredible and the day after they're all over the place. Just like our team LOL Anyway whatever the motives. Shamil old man, I truly and sincerely hope you know what you are doing. DAVAI ROSSIJA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does the French team have particular strengths on carpet that MrT is trying to block or at least neutralise? Does the Russian team have particular strengths on carpet that he is trying to maximise? How different is playing on carpet to playing in Miami? these are open questions, in that i don't know if there are any specific answers.

1. No 2. No 3. Faster I think the French picked carpet because they were fed up of losing. They realised that with Kolya and Igor they stand no chance on clay However... fast carpet can neutralise us big time BUT Neither Grosjean nor Richard are particularly good on it either... I decided I am letting this go till next weekend... my brain hurts trying to make guesses which I will never get right because I am not there and I don't know the situation. The team is announced, I am accepting it and praying that Tarpi knows his job
