usually I don't like the ones who always win like roger, but since he plays so well and is such a nice guy I hope very much that he wins over nadal, and he will definitely!!! and nadal i don't like at all. If only marat could return and be a real competition to roger because he's the only one who's able to beat him when roger's not injured and on his best surfaces., i think. but as long as marat isn't back on top I keep my finges crossed for roger!!

Rafa is the perfect example for Marat and all of the other players who are complaining on the fact that grass doesn't suit their game! If Rafa can be in the Wimbledon's finals with his style, Marat can win it each year! I'm amazed by how a fighter Rafa is, unbelievable to keep the focus and the motivation so high after the French Open victory... Just, spot one Carole ,and especially that unlike Nadal who's game is not the best suited for grass, Marat's game is tailor made for it :oBut I think that in this year and the last he has been able to cope with and doesnt complain any more about the surface, although I think that Nadal is a great example of preservence and consistency something that unfortunatly isnt found very often in Marat's game.

So no surprise that Federer reached the final, although i have to admit, he had to come through a tough draw and made it look very easy!! it sometimes scary how amazingly well roger plays, he creates shots which seem impossible!! And what about Rafa - WELL DONE!!! wow and straight after RG - great transition!! baghdatis had beaten some quality players too, so for rafa to beat him in straight sets is great!! As for the final, I never thought i would say this but i actually want Federer to win. but then again Rafa has the psychological egde with the head to head record! But this will definately be a final worth watching. Rafa will put up more of a fight compared to someone like Roddick so that will be fun (the past 2 finals have been so one sided its boring!) And one more thing can anybody explain to me what is that sort of jacket that Federer wears coming and leaving matches. Was it made by him, or offered by the wimbly organization The commentators said that Roger got the jacket specially made because he wanted to look more "classy" comng on and off court. There is an gold RF (roger federer) logo on a pocket with three gold tennis rackets above it (representing his three wimbledon titles). Hope that helps! I dont think that Rafa has got a psychological advantage over Federer especially in wimbly, when federer is playing his A game nadal is no match for it even on grass and it showed at RG 1st set, however even the grande master can maintain it for long, but at wimbly he has been able to maintain throw 6 matches and still running ,But I dont know I think that it will be either a tennis lesson from Federer and a 3 set win, or rather a shock defeat in 4,5 sets for Nadal.

Seeing the current situation of Federer/Nadal dominance of the game it is crucial that Marat does something and make it more interestin. If he can just maintain a certain level of consitency and doesnt carried away every time he gets a bad call, or a lousy shot, the same transition that happened to federe's game, and the sudden impact with wich he imposed on the tennis scene, going from a virtually unknown, to the one of the most dominant force of the modern era, is something marat can emulate, but by contrast the raw federer never seemed to be producing the goods, something that marat has done, even though not consistently enough, but still at a very high standard, so when you consider the similar leap he would take if sharpens his edge and becomes a full shaped daimond like Roger, then even the grand Master wouldnt stand a chance against the big russian, there wouldnt be even a mention of competition between him and the rest of the pack, and it is very much realistic thoughts but only one can achieve it and his name is MARAT SAFIN

NADA LOST!!!! :'(Sadly though I think that he proved that he is more than a match for Federer even on grass, had he not screwed up so miserably when serving for the set in the second, maybe it would have gone to be a completely different story :oIt does seems ironic, but after the 2005 RG win of Nada over Federer, Federer declared that he can beat him on any surface, It seems more appropriete to give that line to Nadal than it is to federer, the big question is can Nadal win it in the next few years? Well he certainly can, and if it is not the next then surely it will be the one after. Still the big dileama remains. Is Marat going finally to step up his game, and compete with these two? Well that's the question that's going to unfold in the next couple of weeks, and hopefully we would get a positive reponse from the chosen one

I think Marat is putting enough pressure on himself right now. He's already said in interviews that he's tired of hearing people saying that HE's the one that can break the Federer-Nadal domination. I don't think that saying that all the time is helping him.... and Marat needs our help right now. He needs to feel that we are behind him, not pushing him into beeing someone he is not. We already know how good he can be... he has shown us already that when he's at his top, no one can top him. He needs to feel that we are patient..... that we trust him..... that we have faith in him..... that we just love him for what he is and not what we want him to be. He's 26 years old, he doesn't have that much years left but we know he can do great things during those years.... and we'll be here to see them.

I can't read his mind either, of course, but I have the feeling that his priorities lay elsewhere right now and that, frankly, he couldn't care less about the top two that are - for now - out of anybody's league. Let's see if he can play some solid tournaments before calling him a "chosen one". I personally would be happy if he could make the Top 30 or even Top 20 by the end of the year and if he would express some content about his own game, but I guess that makes me too modest in your eyes...

Emma and davis you are spot on again.
Sure Marat would like to be able in the top2 with rafa and roger - i bet he dont really care about them 2, heck we know he can but your asking for alot right now Legato but all this talk puts unwanted pressure on himself. His first priority is too get match fit and get back in that frame of mind to compete - hence that is why he is getting some IS tournaments to get his ranking higher. I would expect Marat - depending on the draws to have a good US Open and good end to the year - if he does'nt he does'nt but i am just glad he is back on a court! I really think this is nonsense talk and we should be looking forward to Indy and send out our positive vibes to Marat
Goodbye Wimby for another year Bring on the Hardcourt

Well done Maestro -superb as ever. A class act. Think Raffa's getting to grips with grass though and is very likely to be a contender in the coming years. Looking back at Wimbles this year, I think Marat might take some comfort with how well he played on grass. He had a superb match over Rusedski, a good solid grass-court player, where he totally dictated the match - and a brill first 2 sets over Gonzalez. He lost the match when he blew a gasket over a call - even though he won the point - and lost the focus thereafter at 4-3 in the third. Up until then, he was very pumped up and really had the focus on winning - I just pray that he realises that he needs to direct his frustration and that next year's Wimbles will be better for him if he stays calm. If Raffa can get to the final on grass, Marat with a game made for grass should be thinking that he's capable too. I've lost hard cash again on the boy, so I'll be expecting him to win next year and allow me to reap the benefits as well! PS It was great to see Amelie win. Nice that she's had the confidence boost of a Slam - with a deserved final set win. Here's hoping she gets many more.

So since we all think and want the same thing I don't see the point of continuing this conversation for ever. I think we've completely explored the subject, and the tournament's over, so let's move on to the next one hoping Marat will play great tennis, that his knee will be fine, and that he's just happy.
