lau lau I think you could be right, but also think that madou has a point, its more likely to be a Federer Roddick final, UNLESS Marat accomplishes the same form and level of play in Halle and then he will be in the final with one of these other guys that's for sure, and Marat if most capable of achieving this ;D I somehow feel the seeding won't bother Marat, but I could be wrong, I think the Wimbledon organizers 'have it in' for Marat, (as in what lau said above) and he knows this, so I guess this is an expected snub. But I say, let them snub him all they want, cause its very possible that Marat will be able to snub them back......LOL you know the saying, "who snub's last snub's the hardest" ;D LMAO btw....lau how can you tell from the seeding that Federer etc will be in Marat's half of the draw....sorry if this really obvious.......and something that I should know

I think the only players that are seeded that will give Marat trouble are Roddick and Federer. You may be right (don´t forget about Lleyton, though. He might do it well. And I guess he really wants that, esp. in Wimbly. Although he was off court for a long time...., he is a dangerous player on grass) But we`re talking about Marat....., haha. I gave up doing predictions about the guy. But as I said: If he wants to win a title, he must play and win against the best ones And I know he can do it I just don't see Hewitt putting up a legit fight. yeah, he wants it, he wants it, and he's been practicing on grass. But he just lost to Karlovic, even if he did get to the quarters. I don't think he'll be back to form enough to contend. Marat won't have trouble against guys like Karlovic, since he beat another big server, Popp. It's what Marat wants really, though he really wanted Roland Garros, he is in much better form going into Wimbledon, so.....

Being seeded 5 doesn't necessarily mean being in the number 1 seed half. Remember in Australia Marat was seeded 4, and he was in fed's half. Each of the top 4 seed gets 1 quarter of the draw. Then seeds 5 to 8 are randomly put in one of these quarters, etc. So marat may be in nadal's, hewitt 's or roddick's quarters as well.

Specially with the huge Grand slams ones(and even more with Wimbledon draws)... So, I`ll be praying...., hahaha I wish Marat gets the Nadal quarter .... Thanks for the info, shacks!!! 5th?? How could tht happen. Normally Wimbledon usually ignore the clay performance. Why?? ermmm i'm not quite sure why all of you are having a fit about Marats seeding, Marat is 5th in the entry rankings and 5th here so he is right where he should be. And no Wimby does not ignore clay results, they simply reward good results on grass which is why Andy jumped up 2 spots and Henman 3 spots

shacks, a little question... IF Rafael and Roger wins the matches until semifinal... will they meet in the semi?? Or we`ll have to wait until the draw to know that?

If Rafael and Roger wins the matches until semifinal... will they meet in the semi?? you'll have to wait until the draw comes out, Wimby has been know to switch wether the 1 seed plays 3 or 4 seed to set up for better matches they did it a few years ago when Serena & Venus should have met each other in the semis be they switched it so they could only met in the final

yeah i know, Wimby and there lovely seeding forumla lol not that i mind it, i think RG should do it too so that real clayballers are seeded above the 'i'm allergic to clay' players of the world, it is just that 17 spot jump is massive!

I don't think the seeds matter that much, but of course, I'd rather Marat got into Hewitt or Nadal's quarter than either Roddick or Fed's quarter. Also, I hope to God he doesn't draw Karlovic in the first round. Roddick needed 2 tiebreaks to beat that guy and Roddick was playing great.

I found this. Interesting article from ATP site, with Wimbledon´s seeding formula:
WIMBLEDON SEEDINGS June 15, 2005 Roddick Earns Second Seed at Wimbledon
World No. 4 Andy Roddick has been seeded second at Wimbledon, creating the prospect of a repeat of the 2004 final with Roger Federer, who will again be the top seed. With the All England Club applying a formula – which rewards grass court performances of the past two years - to this week’s INDESIT ATP Entry Ranking, Roddick leapfrogged World No. 2 Lleyton Hewitt and World No. 3 Rafael Nadal to claim the second seeding.
With a mere 50 INDESIT ATP Entry Ranking points separating Hewitt (3,640 points), Nadal (3,600) and Roddick (3,590), the American was elevated to the second seeding after Wimbledon applied its grass court formula (explained below).
Roddick, who also was seeded second last year, benefited from reaching last year’s Wimbledon final, winning last week's Stella Artois Championships at Queen’s and reaching the Wimbledon semifinals in 2003.
Hewitt, the 2002 Wimbledon champion, has been seeded third and new Roland Garros champion Nadal has been seeded fourth. By the toss of a coin, either Hewitt or Nadal will find himself in Federer’s half of the draw; the other will be in Roddick’s half.
World No. 5 Marat Safin has been seeded fifth but World No. 9 Tim Henman has been elevated to the sixth seed. No. 9 seed Sebastien Grosjean (No. 26 in the INDESIT ATP Entry Ranking) and 10th seed Mario Ancic (No. 21) – both semifinalists last year - made the biggest jumps among the seeded players.
Federer, the two-time defending champion, is seeded first in a Grand Slam tournament for the sixth consecutive time, dating back to Roland Garros 2004. Federer will take a 29-match winning streak on grass into the tournament.
If top seed Federer and second seed Roddick meet in the final it would be the first time since 1988-90 (Edberg and Becker) that the returning Wimbledon champion and finalist met in the final in two consecutive years.
How the All England Club Calculates its Seeds
The world’s Top 32 participating players according to last Monday’s (June 13) INDESIT ATP Entry Ranking earn a seeding. Because three players in that Top 32 – No. 6 Andre Agassi, No. 12 Gaston Gaudio and No. 20 Carlos Moya – withdrew from the tournament before the seedings were announced, No. 33 Feliciano Lopez, No. 34 Mikhail Youzhny and No. 35 Robin Soderling move into the group of 32 players who earn a seeding.
The All England Club then applies a formula to re-order the 32 players who earn a seed. The formula is:
· Take INDESIT ATP Entry Ranking points at Monday, June 13, 2005 · Add 100% of points earned for all grass court tournaments in the previous 12 months · Add 75% of points earned at a player’s best grass court event in the 12 months before that.
The men's singles draw will be made Thursday. (Check ATPtennis.com for a full report on the winners and losers from the draw ceremony.)
The men’s doubles is seeded entirely according to the ATP Entry Ranking.
Below is a look at the Wimbledon seeds and their current INDESIT ATP Entry Ranking.
Seed/Player/INDESIT ATP Entry Ranking 1. FEDERER, Roger (SUI) 1 2. RODDICK, Andy (USA) 4 3. HEWITT, Lleyton (AUS) 2 4. NADAL, Rafael (ESP) 3 5. SAFIN, Marat (RUS) 5 6. HENMAN, Tim (GBR) 9 7.
