Well since this is Marat's next schedule tournament i may as well post thie little message i found from him about this years championship at www.jta-tennis.or.jp/aigopen/e/players.html#safinMessage from Marat Safin I look very forward to playing at the AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships, for the first time in my tennis career.
I understand that the tournament is a great one and I hope that my performance in tennis will be successful, so that you, my Fans will enjoy watching me participate in the event in Tokyo, Japan.
I visited and played in Tokyo once before during a Davis Cup tie and look forward once again to the great hospitality of your country. I am sure that with the support that you will all extend to me when I play my matches, I will be able to bring my tennis level to new heights. Cant wait to see you again Marat

I am not one to announce things before OS but on the tournament website they have Marat as withdrawn and within the Japanese Media. Hope this was just a big mistake.

If the website (or some other creditable source) says he has withdrawn you are more then welcome to post it before the OS does. Life here does not revolve around the OS

The OS, webby has said no news will be posted until it comes straight to webby from Amit or someone else so maybe webby is waiting for a contact before posting it. I guess if it is in the Japanese media maybe it's true, I don't know, I'm confused. Either way if the knee is not ready Marat shouldn't take a chance playing. And he seemed to be looking so forward to playing there, oh well, just get better Marat your fans can wait until you are 100% healthy.

FROM MS.COM
18.09.05 . With regards to the Japan Open - officially Marat has not withdrawn but as there is no guarantee that he will be able to play, it was felt that the tournament director should be allowed to negotiate for another player in case of Marat not being ready to play.So this is what his management team have told the director of the tournament. Should Marat be ready then he will play. Unfortunately with the injury it is not possible to give any definite answers at this time. .

The news on Safin.com that it is absolutely not sure that Marat will play in Japan is surprising me not ! When Marat is able to play , he will play ! Dear Marat take your time ! Your knee is more important than a tournament ! Always support you !!!
