Safin may miss Wimbledon
Marat Safin progressed to the quarter-finals of the Halle Open when Fabrice Santoro was forced to retire halfway through the deciding set of their second round encounter, but a troublesome knee injury may force the mercurial Russian to abandon the rest of the grass court season.
"Writing off the grass court season is an option, and maybe I'll just skip Wimbledon and use the time to recover," said Safin, who has never been particularly enamoured with the green turf. "I have been bothered by this knee injury for almost two months and no doctor can tell me exactly what the nature is. It's no fun when you're out there playing through pain, using pain-killers all the time. I need to sit down with the doctors just to decide whether I play or will stop for a couple of months."
It is more likely that Safin will take a break after Wimbledon. He blames the "I'm suffering" injury on the punishing ATP tour schedule. "Unfortunately the tour and the years are really too long. You have not enough time to rest and to recover from injuries, that's why I'm suffering," he told reporters in Halle. "To make the right decision is really tough, because always some people say, you have to try and defeat the pain. But this is not my game to suffer on the court for three hours playing with the pain."

That's what he said: Also tennis professional Marat Safin had come into the Borussia park, in order to support its Russian compatriots. "that was an exciting play. Both teams have however still much work before itself ", said it to Sport1.de. At the WM 2006 Safin has however a clear favorite: "in important plays are the Germans always by hundred percent there." ( its only babelfish translation )

It's gonna be a VERY tough one actually. 2 matches again in 1 day and I don't think Ollie will let him have his way that easily. However hiding Ollie in the drinks refrigerator could help...
Anyway. I hope the *beeeeeep* scoreboard works better today. Look forward to another exciting cyber tennis-watching session with you people LOL
