Hey Guys i e-mailed the ARAG ATP World Team Championship tournament organisers about whether Marat Safin will be competing in Dusseldorf and i got a reply saying that Russia will not be competing, even though they qualified as 4th seeds. So that is one less tournament for Marat to play in i again have e-mailed the organisers about why they are not competing and will post there reply ASAP.
Here is the e-mail i got back
Unfortunately and due to expectations we couldn’t fullfill, we must tell you that the Russians will not be playing at the ARAG World Team Championship here from may 15th to May 21st.
We would really have loved to see Marat Safin here once again.
hope you may still consider to visit the tournament, still it is a great event and we certainly hope to see the Russians here again next year. Best wishes…
Holger Tromp

Well, I guess it's good that he's not playing. He can better prepare for Rolland Garros. Also on his official website, it said that Marat will be training in Valencia during the Valencia Open. Why not ask for a wildcard and maybe earn some points since he's gonna be there anyway? I want him to gain some confidence before Monte Carlo.

I got a reply back from the organisers and the last bit hurts
The simple reason why Russia will not be here is the exaggerated expectation that Marat Safin had in terms of financial bonus donation.
Since we do need to ‘feed’ some other world class players here (Hewitt, Coria, Gaudio, Johansson…) this was just to much and unfortunately not to handle. Regarding this situation it might have been better if Marat would not have won in Melbourne lately…
Best wishes…

Guys, you know what I'm thinking - he might've asked the money to get his way out of the tourney. Already at the first time looking at his schedule I wasn't too excited about him playing so many weeks in a row before RG. So I think it's a wise decision actually. It'sjust my opinion of course. He himself knows better how to schedule his tournaments, whre he needs breaks and where not.

He himself knows better how to schedule his tournaments, whre he needs breaks and where not. Knowing Marat that is exactly what is was probably. He has applied for too many and then realised it was too much in the shape he is in right now. He needs to be fully armed and rested for RG because this year HE IS GONNA WIN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Oh well....Ily don't be sad, they'll show RG live too, I am sure LOL

*ROTFL* Gerard 'The Bloodsucker' Tsobanian's been at it again, no doubt ;D ;D If you want to know how 'exaggerated' the price probably was, take the biggest number you can think of and add a couple of zeros I know I'm gonna pay for that comment, but I'm sorry, it's true. Marat's skipped too many tourneys simply because they couldn't afford the extravagent price tag that his management demand. Marat has little control over it and his management aren't stupid: they know they can ask a lot of money for his appearence fee and tourney directors will pay it because Marat sells tickets. But it's unfair on the fans, it's unfair on smaller tournaments, and it's just greed.
