So at least we got IW out of the way....albeit it a bit more painfully than necessary.....poor Marat I thought he'd got the 'worst match EVER' thing out of his system a while ago.... Roll on Miami - sun, sea, friends and fun for Marat - he's got a soft spot for the place, surely that will lift his spirits?

BTW, to anyone who saw the match: what was Dinara and Peter's reaction(s)? Did they look worried or just resigned?

Dinara watched with a towel up to her face for the most part. Peter tried to keep him motivated saying C'mon, clapping, etc. I don't know if they showed Peter and Dinara right after he lost. If they did I missed it.

The camera did go to Peter and Co quite often, but
I can't recall it going right at the end, may have
but as soon as Marat shook hands I switched off, it was just to painfull.

There was a man sitting next to Peter, older, greyish hair, cant say I have seen him before, or cant say I know who it is. Dinara was sitting behind Peter

I find Peter has a poker face when things are not going to well, and does not seem to take his eyes off Marat
for one moment, even when the guy was talking to
Peter he never looked at the guy, seemed to be
concentrating on Marat, I think his eyes never left
Marat.
the only give away is the 'bitting' of the finger nails, and this is what he started to do.
I suppose you could say he looked concerned at
what was happening, I mean, me for sure was wondering whats happen, he is going to turn this match around, right.

When Marat hit a great shot, and he did hit many,
and if the camera panned in on Peter you could
see emotion, little pumped fist., little smile of encouragement
and I am sure I heard him say
'Come on' and or 'Come on Marat'

Dinara was sitting behind Peter, and she had a towel
covering her legs, she likes to put her legs up in front of her, she would hold the towel, like over her
bent legs, and up to her face, she would hold the
towel up to like her mouth and seemed to be biting on
it!
most of the shots you could only see half her face, like from the the nose up!so you would see these 'eyes' and unfortunately YES she was concerned, worried, at least thats how I read it.

That's my take on it!! Anyone else saw..............?

my purely subjective analysis (see quote at bottom of post):

peter looked stony faced but not particularly worried--perhaps resigned (but come to think of it, i'm not sure how resigned would look). he looked blank. that's the best i can do.

dinara always looks worried to me at marat's matches.

I was sitting pretty close to where Lundgren and Dinara were sitting and my impression was that Lundgren spent a lot of time with his head turned back talking to some one, which surprised me. I was also surprised how much Marat talked (well, actually whined) to Lundgren during the match and I swear I saw Lundgren talking back to him, which I thought was forbidden. I think Lars gave him some breaks. He never warned Marat for racket smashing, yet gave Taylor Dent a warning for telling him a call was bullshit. It was all very pathetic. And Dinera looked very uncomfortable too. I don't have high hopes for Florida, but look forward to him in Europe, and the US Open and the end of the year. I really was surprised that he didn't look that big out there on the court, actually kind of thin, and that stupid stupid stupid hat!

not that i saw and i'm pretty sure if she was sitting in his box they would have shown her. Most of the US knows who she is due to a sports show (called Pardon the Interruption) where one of the hosts drooled over Dasha for 2 weeks after Marat won the AO

I really did enjoy myself. It's only the second live match I've ever attended. It was just that it was a long traffic drive to and from and I splurged on box seats to be close to the action and it was just a painful match to watch for a Safin fan. The crowd was laconic. And, my husband, who was traveling in Pennsylvania (and hates tennis and that I'm nuts about Marat and hog the TV with the Tennis channel, etc.) watched some of it to see if he could see me and he saw how bad Marat lost and really gave me the business and ragging at me to choose another idol.

And yeah, he does have skinny little ankles. But you can see that strong jaw from blocks away.
