thanks for the report Anuschka About the necklaces, the commentators here (in Argentina) said that according to one of our old players, it's pretty dangerous to wear them, cause you can hit your teeth very hard. okay, i know it's not supposed to be funny, but this made me laugh ;D

hehehehe... actually i was wondering whether he was about to eat the racket or to kiss it and apologize for what he just did to it ;D it does look a lil bit like he's gonna kiss it....but i don't think he was in the mood having just read this... Russia Out of Hopman Cup as Safin Loses Again Wed Jan 5, 2005 01:49 AM ET Top News By Simon Cambers PERTH, Australia (Reuters) - Top seeds Russia suffered a humiliating early exit from the Hopman Cup on Wednesday as a leg-weary Marat Safin was beaten for the second time in three days in their 2-1 defeat by Argentina. The world number four, beaten by Tommy Haas in Russia's opening match defeat by Germany, lost 7-6, 6-1 to Guillermo Coria and Argentina wrapped up victory when Coria and Gisela Dulko beat Safin and Anastasia Myskina 6-2, 6-0 in the mixed doubles. It just wasn't my day today," Safin said. "I wasn't fast enough, not sharp enough.
"Gisela was even returning my serve very well which was kind of embarrassing but I'll have to live with that and get better for the Australian Open.
"He (Coria) played really well, was always running, always biting, not literally, but he was too good." Myskina had earlier beaten Dulko 6-2, 6-1 to put Russia ahead but Safin's rustiness and some fine play by the Argentine pair secured victory for the fourth seeds and left Russia unable to qualify for Saturday's final. The winner of Thursday's match between Argentina and Germany will decide who progresses to the final as the winner of Group A of the eight-team round-robin event. Suffering with jet-lag when he was beaten by Haas, Safin had been hoping for an improved performance but with Coria looking close to his best, the Russian struggled to make an impression. A few bullet-like backhands were the only signs of the Safin who climbed back to number four in the world rankings after a superb 2004, but his legs appeared heavy and his forehand offered up a host of errors. Once Coria had taken the first set 7-4 in the tiebreak, the spirit seemed to drain from Safin and the Argentine romped through the second set to clinch victory in 70 minutes. Earlier, Myskina was on top form as she brushed aside Dulko in just 56 minutes. I played really well today," said Myskina. "It was a little early start for me ...and I need to practice a lot more if I am going to play my best at the Australian Open, but everything was good." Safin and Myskina were immediately up against it in the deciding mixed doubles match when an early break put Argentina on their way to the first set and when they broke Safin in the opening game of the second set, the result was never in doubt. Australia play the Netherlands in a Group B match later on Wednesday.

Marat the useless... POOR NASTYA! Apologize to ger man! One MTf poster said that Nastya "almost cried after Marat's loss in singles".
I was lucky that the matches were in the moring when I was in school. ... and that i didn't know that they were scheduled for the morning and not evening.
I'm out-right disappointed. Did he pick up his racket in Barcelona, if he was there? Oh well.
I don't see him defending any of his AO points this year. Let's face it, he will not surprize us so pleasantly ones more at the same tournament. And we know that his winning streaks can not last for more than a few weeks. Good luck Marat. I want a bagel fromo you tomorrow in the dead rubber. Good luck and oh SO PLEASE WIN SOMETHING! For yourself, more than anybody else. I still love you.

LOL Steph, at least we 2 are positive today right! Ma'am why are you positive? One day you want to be the b.... (angry Ma'am) and the other you want to act as Marat's loving mother. Ofcourse even the loving mother would not see anything positive in this.

Aww Vass, he seemed like in a holiday mood still or just staring in front of him, still suffering from the jet-lag. BTW Vass, the 3rd & 4th days are the worst I've heard. So don't be harsh on him. And he sure has worked with Peter wherever they were. As for the AO - I'm not expecting anything at all from him. I'm kinda calmer this way.

"Gisela was even returning my serve very well which was kind of embarrassing but I'll have to live with that and get better for the Australian Open. It is not surprizing. If he served like he did in the first serve against Haas, even a woman could smack wiinners off his serve. He probably hadn't any first serve and the second serve was probably week.

Umm, I must say I wasn't paying that much attention but the aggregate 1st serve % for M % N was pretty good, 68% at the end if I remember it correctly. But Gisela was the star of the match, wow those return winners! Of course Marat wasn't serving at the full speed.
