hey guys..
you know how i mentioned earlier that Adidas had pulled its plug as the main sponsor from the annual tournament held in Sydney during January ?
well i received a letter recently from the tournament reps cause i receive preferential seating..... and they announced that the tournament will still run but not under the name "Adidas International" but "Sydney International" and from January the 9 - 15 .... is that still co-inciding with Kooyong held in Melbourne? I hope not!
so im hoping to secure my seats soon.... and fingers crossed Marat can come... cause then i can get interview transcripts, ask him questions (through a friend) and that sort of stuff.....
Ceya later Chirine

sirius>> thanx for the tip.. i checked the schedule It announced that Sydney would be Jan 10 - 16 but Kooyong would be Jan 12-15... so it does clash in the final rounds.. Im not happy with them clashing only because: a) Agassi ALWAYS goes to Kooyong , which is in Melbourne by the way. He says that because he gets a couple of matches (its a round robin format) it is more beneficial for him in turns of warming up then other tournaments, aka Sydney.... This is understandable but then: b) cause AGASSI attends, therefore Federrer must and so follow a whole suit of people..... now i don't know how Marat will see this because in 2003 when he attended and i saw him *sigh* he was ranked 1st in the seedings (3rd in the world at the time).... but then this year he didn't attend because he was too low ranked and would require a wild card, meaning up against hard opponents early on and a wild card wasted if he doesn't go anywhere.... so that was understandable... but now that he is up and high in terms of ranking and much better physically then he was in December 2003 leading up to the tournament..... i think his decision would be between: 1) attending the Sydney International in the hope of gaining valuable competition points, earning some prise money, playing against ready opponents or 2) attending Kooyong and having at least one match against AGASSI and FEDERRER... earn no tournament points.... little prise money..... but valuable match practice (as he could see it) I hope he attends Sydney... he has never really tried Kooyong to my memory ( I could be wrong ) but so many people here in Sydney want to see him... i have a whole ontrage waiting for later this year to see who the tournament secures..... What do you guys think he may do??? I mean don't forget he could just not attend any of them and just practice for the Australian Open cause don't forget he attended the Hopman Cup with Anastacia Myskina in early January... however Myskina did come to Sydney... so that shouldn't affect his decision too much i figure.. so what do u all reckon he may do leading up to the Australian Open?

Thanks for the info...not sure what Marat's decision will be Im from Melbourne so personally id prefer him to attend Kooyong, however if its more beneficial for him to go to Sydney (and from the perspective you give it is) then id prefer he go there and make a lasting impression at the Aus Open Im already pumped about it...should be awesome ;D

Based on previuos years Marat has not been known to attend this tournament and i think he will do the same next year.

SAFINNO1- Ummmmm I just realised that u posted on this thread... and my response to your statement... is that Marat actually did attend the tournament with his last appearance in 2003...
Anyways, I got tickets *YAY*... and have really good seats... i'll take heaps of pics for everyone... ESPECIALLY if Marat comes and other players like Ferrero, Roddick, Moya... Yadadada.... *did u see how i mentioned Roddick, even if i detest him (not personally though.. he just rubs up my wrong side) cause i luv ya all ...especially for those who like him..
*ok calm down Chirine.... 3 months to go.... ppheewtt*

Yeah, congrats Chirine! We'll just have to wait and see. I hope Ruth can dig out some info from his management when they've sat down and made the preliminary scheduling for the next year.

I'll see what I can do, but I probably won't hear anything about schedules until late December...and that's only if Marat has made some concrete plans and told people about said plans ;D At this point in time, I don't see any reason why Marat wouldn't play Sydney...only if he's injured or commits to another tourney and doesn't want to 'waste energy'. Will let you know if I hear anything

HEY ALL.... well after my major *cant-breathe-having-a-coronary* episode earlier.... i have calmed down!.... i attended the tournament on 3 days... Mon-Wed... and met heaps of really cool players..... took photos with most too ;D a few people wanted me to report some stuff about the events so hear i go..... lol MONDAY- i got a ground pass and so my main aim was to gain as many photos as possible... lol.... heaps of the players train though and so u get to watch them and stuff... some give autographs and photos during their session... others want u to wait... but yeh its cool (actually it was 32 degrees celcius... not that cool lol )..... heaps of the players are like ligh-hearted and ask u questions like Where are u from? oh u have an accent? where's that from? that type of thing.... i kept getting told i sound American from my friends and i was like.. NO WAY!!!... and then Taylor Dent was like... "Of course u can have a photo... anything for a countryman!".. i was like ..... TUESDAY - i got centre court tickets and watched Myskina lose ....... it was sooo hot..... i reckon heaps of players cant play as well cause the heat fatigues them...... her and carlos moya bowed out first round.... very disappointing .... anyways i also watched Hewitt.... that guy gets on my nerves now.... i dunno something about him makes me tick!... can anyone relate? WEDNESDAY- only came to watch Dent VS Fish... it was the most thrilling first set i EVER watched..... 1 WHOLE hour until it was decided in a tie-breaker... i reckon i lost my voice! and yeah when DENT one *phew* i waited around to watch Mirnyi VS J.Johansson and then what happens? after i get my face painted with the swedish flag for the salvation army for donations.... he FOREFEITS.... so hamstring muscle thingy!.. i was sooo offended... lol... TOTALLY joking.... in australia everyone has this thing with the swedish people.... so i put on an accent everywhere i went so that they didn't think i was chearing for a swedish person over an australian..... if its Hewitt... anyday..lol But yeah.....i saw the following players up close and have a photo with: -Greg Rudeski (very funny ! ) -Jarko Nieminim (cant spell ) -Max Mirnyi (sooo tall; beautiful accent) -Albert Costa (very nice) -Jan Michael Gambill (sooo hot) -Igor Andreev & Nicolay Davydenko (together) -Taylor Dent (sooo sweet) -Carlos Moya (soooo handsome) -Andre Pavel (total sweet heart...mm) -Joachim Johansson (soooo tall and cute) umm.... all the players are really nice and stuff but omg... the photo with Andre Pavel is the nicest cause it looks like where mates with his arm around me.... he is sooooo nice... ;D ;D ....... taylor dent recognised me the day after i had taken a photo with him and we like full on had a conversation... he was sooo intrigued with my accent.... i was like totally blushing the WHOLE time and my friend next to me was like... "OMG.... he's sooooooooooooo nice!" and i was like "I KNOW!!!!!"..... Its actually a big thing when they like actually talk to you cause u don't expect it and its really nice of them.... Taylor was so sincere and i find him sooo lovely! ..... Most players say a few words and just wonder off..... albert costa also talked to me..... he was soooo nice and like there was this big group of tourists... maybe like 10.... and he stood there and took a photo with EVERY single one of them... and then i was afraid he would have gotten fed up and just left... but he actually turned around and like waited with me until i had an autograph and photo...... his accent is sooo KOOL! so is Carlos Moya! he is soooo sexy when he speaks in spanish!... omg soooooo hot! lol.. well yeh... ive rambled on long enough .... if u guys wanna see any photos from particular players u also follow just let me now and ill like post them or something.... well... yeah.. enough from me... Love Chiro
