I don't think it's so much a family problem based purely on Dinara's situation, because during Wimbledon her manager (same as Marat's) said Dinara should never have played Wimbledon, her injury was far worse than she let on and she was in some pain, but she was so desperate to do well at Wimbledon......poor girl...I really feel for her, it must be so frustrating. I didn't say it was because of Dinara's situation. I know she hurt herself at Eastbourne and was advised agaisnt even playing Wimby. I said that maybe something in the Safin family was bothering both Marat and Dinara for a few months, not days

Oh sorry, Nicki, I misunderstood....I see what you mean. Well, I'm not really up to speed on Dinara's situation, but from what you say, it could well be a family problem that's hanging over the Safin's at the moment... both of them seem to be having terrible 'luck' [for want of a better word...] at the moment. Both careers seem to be taking a mini-nosedive and that shouldn't be the case for two such incredibly talented players. At least for Marat, losing Wimbledon was no big deal, as he doesn't really like it, but Dinara seems to have her heart set on winning it - Wimbledon is to Dinara what RG is to Marat, I think! So to be forced out through injury is just awful...... that's the difference, Marat, your sister was willing to fight on regardless

4 caroline, marats mini profile in the wimbledon program on 26th june
MARAT SAFIN RUSSIA *wiggly line* 24; 6' 4"; 195lb; RH 2HB
No pain, no gain, the sages say. Practice makes perfect. Except, of course, if you are Marat Safin. The tall and charming Russian has never done anything by the book. Although he is happy to work for his rewards, he does not take himself, his occupation or his predicament too seriously.
When Andre Agassi's career hit the doldrums in 1997 he rescued himself with work, more work and yet more work. When Safin hit rock bottome last summer, he went fishing, drank a few beers and had a think. That was all it took, A handful of months later, the big man was in the final of the Australian Open, having beaten Roddick and Agassi along the way. He was back and everybody knew it.
His long standing injury last year proved to be a blessing in disguise. Forced to rest, he took himself off to Yosemite National Park (which is where the beer and the fishing came in). It was then he decided that, if given the chance, he was ready to fight his way back to the top. The wrist got better and so did Marat.
No one, least of all Safin, knows where his new lease of like will take him, but rest assured, it will be an eventful trip.

Hey, guys!!!!!! This is the first time I have touched a computer in about a month, and it's not only because of my exams, but my comp just crashed abt two weeks ago, and we haven't fixed it yet...... I'm at my mum's office right now....... ;D ;D and I just couldn't stay away. Nothing important to say, I just missed you guys and Marat and wanted to catch up. Boy, it's been more than a month but so few things have happened around here...DAMN, I wanted to see some new pics and read some new stuff. Oh, well, I guess we'll have to wait one more week. Which is fine with me, cos I'm finishing my exams this week, and then I'll be free as a bird!!!!! WOOOHOOOOO!!!!! (I took the first of my three entry exams today, and in two days I will be done with the whole thing, FINALLY ;D >> Just in case you were wondering *who am I kidding?!! * ) Anyway, lots of kisses from me to all of you ( I don't know when I'll be around again - please pray for my computer!!!! ) and STAY POSITIVE!!!! (I've noticed a lot of negative vibes around here and that's never good ) Remember, people: school's out, summer is here, and more importantly, THE SUMMER TENNIS SEASON is here, so LET'S MAKE IT A GOOD ONE!!!!!!

Hi Neo! Welcome back! I hope you get your PC fixed and can join us when Marat will be playing! Until then good luck with your last exams! And well, the bad vibes here depend solely on Marats's performance! At least I'm more optimistic now and I really hope Marat's gonna do great at the US circuit! (Good to know at least he's training! ) Then it'll be fun discussing here!

Hey Neo welcome back!! Sorry to hear about your computer, it must have been very hard for you to be off-line for about a month . You have NO idea!!!!! :'(I'm a computer/Internet junkie and it's been hell, even though I had a lot of things to do (by the way, two down, one more to go... ;D). Anyway, thanks for wishing me "good luck", I'll need it.
